Hi, Im 18 and starting to recede. I was just posting to enquire from people who are bald or balding how much it affects dating women. Is it a lot more difficult to meet people and how much does being bald\balding affect it.
Thanks

You asked the million dollar question. Being quiet and shy is probably worse than going bald. Its all a matter of perspective.

My girlfriend to me a couple of days ago:

"My ex boyfriend was short and balding. He was a mess."

You could ask that question about any trait. How does women feel about tall men, short men, red haired men, dark eyed men. Some will like it, others wont care and you have those that do not like it.

Yes it is more difficult. Depending on other frame conditions a LOT more difficult

Yes, it makes a big difference when you are younger. But as you get older it will make less difference, as it becomes more and more common for your age group. However, younger women often avoid bald men.

But I'd say the best thing you can do is get down the gym and build some muscle. It won't eliminate bald comments or disses, but it will add another layer of sex appeal. I've had women laugh at me for baldness on a night out and then a minute later they're telling me I'm strong looking and touching my muscles. By that time I'm not interested anyway because they've insulted me, but it hasn't ruled me out from their perspective.

Well it's not as important as height

That is true, which is why it is more important for short guys to get on meds at the first signs of hairloss if they have a family history. If I was average height or taller I dont think I would care about hairloss as much as I do.

Very badly

See two versions. Second one would not have a music career and would NOT be a teenage heart throb. \Thread.

Wow, that is scarey. I have never seen those pictures before. Sadly, I would agree with what you've said about Elvis had he been balding.

Makes me think what opportunities I may have missed out on because of my baldness ..

I started thinning at 18/19. I can relate. It's just that I hate idiots claiming that hair loss doesn't matter much. ROFL,... we have one and the same guy, confidence, skin, skull, face EVERYTHING is equal. The difference is his beautiful mane.

I have to say, Elvis had INSANE hair genetics.

NOTE: this is a very good looking guy, if even he can't take the hit of male pattern baldness, then how can we average guys do it?

Thanks, Alphalete, that's a nice response. But unfortunately my confidence is linked to hair, or lack of it. But I would advise balding men to get into bodybuilding, it certainly helped me.

if you know how to talk to women and you dont have issues like low selfesteem, anxiety and what not from your hair. you should have no problem dating.

if you let that get to your head (no pun intended) and you are shy and angry and what have you re it, then that will be an issue.

I get you, Eren.

What I'm finding lately is that often people just see the bald head and nothing else.
I recently helped a (male) visitor at work set up his laptop, chatting with him for ten minutes. Later in the day he walked up to another bald guy and restarted the conversation, thinking it was me. The other guy is nearly ten years older than me, has no beard and wears glasses...
