How fast did your temples recede?

My left temple is receding at a ridiculous rate. 5 months a go I had a full and thick head of hair and no receding hairline. But now I have 1.5 cm recession (2/3 of an inch) of my left temple, 0.5cm recession of my right temple, and overall diffuse loss. I was always under the impression that male pattern baldness was a fairly steady process. My hairloss just came out of the blue and it really caught me off guard. There's no examples of great hairloss (>NW3) in my family history either. I've hopped on the propecia train a week ago and praying that the recession will stop.

How quickly did your temples recede?

One day I stood in front of the mirror and they disintegrated before my eyes.

j/k, my temples receded slightly in my teens but nothin serious.

It took about a year or so I believe.

The main thing was the disbelief that it was actually happenign.

I am in my early 20s and my grandfather on my mom's side is bald, i recently got a haircut and noticed my temples seemed further back then before and my hair was thinner in that area. Anyways my temples are the first thing I have noticed. I'll keep you updated on how fast they are receeding. I just joined this because I have also noticed one of my friend's and my father who are starting to show signs of hairloss and got me worried. I could just be paranoid? lol

Anyways I'd like to keep my hair because cuz i'm not the great looking face-wise, although body-wise i think I am fine. Still I've always had a good amount of hair.

I wish only my temples would recede but for me my whole hairline is going. Even more agressive is my diffuse thinning. I lost about 70% of all my hair on top within the last 2.5 years. Thx god, I had a lot to begin with!

oh god give me a break. stop whining taugeberlin. if you lost 70% of your hair on top you'd be like an NW4-5. you aren't.

My hair line receded to a mature hairline from my juvenile hairline when I was about 15/16. It was pretty static until a few months ago, where it died to its current (or close to) condition. In actuality, I don't have a NW2, but rather half my hairline is a NW1-2 and the other is a very-thinned NW3 or so. However, my hairline hasn't really receded in the front.

Time it took to get there? Quick. I got a haircut one day. The next couple weeks, I couldn't stop freaking out how quick it fell out. No lie. I have my appt with a dermatologist, and I'm hoping it's just some drug I was taking or something reverisble.

Luckily, my hair is long and thick enough to cover up my right temple using a brush forward and part down the middle.

Yeah, this could be a possiblity, too. Unforunately, I had to cancel my appt due to the fact that I'll be out of town. Luckily enough, I'll have my next appt within a month.

I think I may also go see my PCP to see if anything is wrong with my digestive system or my thyroid. I was having frequent nausea while on flonase, but now I'm still having nausea, but rather infrequently, which could be a lot of things, but given the fact that my hair fell out rather quickly, there could be a link.

My only problem is that my hair didn't fall out in clumps, but rather may 5-15hairs, so I'm not sure what it could be. The hair fallout has ceased, although I still get the 0-10 hairs while shampooing and brushing. Both of which I'm not really too heavily concerned.

My temples receeded off and on over the last 15 years. I have a period of seemingly fast recession... then it stops and maintains for several years... then, another period of recession hit, and lost some more real estate... then maintenance for a long time.

I waited for a full 3 minutes for the first photo to finish loading then I realized it wasn't going to go any further.

been one year receded about 2/3 of an inch maybe less. this is the whole hairline. Most of it came after starting rogaine on the hairlines with spironolactone and rogaine. Hoping and praying that most of that hairloss was just from a shed and that at least some of it will grow back. My forehead is pretty high now.
