It can take up to 1 year to get finasteride out of your system. That came from the Merck company.

Hey actionpack, whatever you're doing...keep doing it. You have a full head of hair. I can not tell you're balding at all.

I would change the hairstyle though. It seems as if your trying to hide something with that comb over style when you're really not.

We talking about the same Merck company? Finasteride still exerts systemic effects for about 2 weeks after last dosage. Side effects though may persist longer depending on the individual.

Bullshit! Show me where they supposedly made that statement!

Finasteride should be pretty much out of your system three or four days after the last dose, judging by serum levels of the drug.

I got the information from Propecia website.

http://www.propecia.com/finasteride...ained within 12 months of stopping treatment.

If you stop taking PROPECIA, you will gradually lose the hair you have gained within 12 months of stopping treatment.

That last line doesnt imply that Finasteride stays in your system for 12months.

The way I read that is:

Within a 12 months period of Finasteride no longer protecting your hair, any hair that Finasteride stimulated to grow will shed.

Finasteride only has a half-life of like 8hrs or so... So within 16hrs Finasteride should be 100% out of your system.

poor ol' ACT10Npack he has got it all wrong and incurred the wrath of the mighty BRYAN !!!

:freaked2:

ACT10Npack what the info above means is that when you stop taking finasteride (and your system is clear of it) your bodys natural DHT production will be resumed and then it will take about a year for this DHT to harvest the hair that has grown in its abscence.

from what I understand about half life it goes like this:

lets say the half life is 8 hours and you take 1mg of finasteride for the first time.
in 8 hours you have .5mg in your system in 16 hours you have .25mg in 24 hours you have .125mg.

so the serum level is halved every eight hours and continues to reduce for ever at a steady rate, although you will never be clear of Finasteride as regardless of how many times you half the remaing amount there will always be half that amount left !

By halfing the amount in your system every 8 hours you will eventually get down to 1 molecule of Finistride. At that point the molecule cannot be halved without changing it into a different chemical substance, so it will indeed clear your system.

And the VERY BEST educated ones of all know that it's Zeno's paradox! :D

However, Zener diodes make excellent voltage regulators, and xenon makes excellent flash-tubes! :hairy:

Actually, I don't really know how closely it follows that mathematical rule. It could possibly be like dutasteride, which has TWO different elimination pathways operating at different rates, which makes for a more complicated equation. dutasteride is eliminated more linearly at higher blood levels, but then it SPEEDS UP as the level drops (by that, I mean the half-life drops considerably at lower blood levels). I should dig out my old finasteride literature to see the details of what happens with THAT drug.
