I don't think anyone can say for sure what will happen. I think you might have a small shed but try not to stop the propecia once you have started it!

You know that cutting up a Proscar pill is a way less expensive way to take Finasteride, right?

Proscar is literally cheaper than Propecia on a per tablet basis AND one Proscar tablet is 5 mg compared to the 1 mg Propecia tablet. So you can see that you can save a lot of money by cutting Proscar. I wish I knew this 4 years ago when I started Propecia I would have saved thousands of dollars... but what the heck, I know now, so my next prescription will be for Proscar.

where can i get proscar???

If you order Propecia off a non-prescription website, just order Proscar off that website. If you get a prescription for Propecia from your doctor, go ask your doctor for a Proscar prescription, explaining to him/her that Proscar is the exact same medication (Finasteride) in a different dose. Your medical insurance might cover Proscar even if it doesn't cover Propecia, since Proscar is officially indicated for BPH, not male pattern baldness. My doctor was happy to prescribe Proscar instead, and my insurance covered it until I switched insurers. It's still pretty cheap, though.

I take one-quarter of a Proscar pill per day. That's 1.25mg, instead of the 1mg dose of Propecia. You can try to cut the Proscar pills into fifths instead of fourths (thus rendering a 1mg dose), but it's much more difficult. If you don't cut them exactly evenly, it doesn't really matter. Minor variations in the dosage are immaterial for most people. You'll want to buy a pill cutter too. If you're quartering Proscar pills, a bottle of thirty pills will last you for four months. You'll save a ton of money.

I know super old thread but...

I know I'm responding to a 10 year old thread, but I've been searching for an answer to your exact question. I was on finasteride for 5 years. I had things going on in my life and stopped for 5 weeks. After 5 weeks I've started back up on finasteride. 3 weeks in and I've lost a TON of hair! I'm concerned my hair is catching up to its natural state, but holding onto hope this is just a shed from starting finasteride again and hopefully will grow back. I've had extremely fine hair and not a lot of it my whole life so losing even a little makes my scalp easily show and looks really bad. Just hoping someone was in the same boat and they stopped and started finasteride with good results.
