And I dont' mean buying some Nizoral shampoo and taking biotin. I mean solid, concrete steps such as finasteride (propecia) or minoxidal (rogaine)...

I dont know if this poll has a valid scientific basis, I'm just curious. Feel free to post why you didn't start treatment ASAP or why you did.

I found out I was losing hair when I was 22, I was in denial for a year then when I turned 23 I decided to do some research, went to see a Doctor and it took me 6 more months to start finasteride. I am going to turn 25 pretty soon so that makes almost 1 1/2 years of treatment (best thing I could do)

I regret not starting earlier but oh well.

I waited two years but i wasn't "in denial". so how about you remove that from your options.

You're right, Flim Flam, people have their own reasons for not taking medication, not JUST denial. For example: ignorance of the available options, fear of sideeffects, financial issues, etc.

What I want to know is how long people waited, not why they waited. And for those who waited, whetier they regret waiting those extra months or years!

I would edit the poll but I can't because people have already voted. Only an admin can, so if they want to remove the denial bit, good.

within 2 days of finding out I was balding I found gourmetstylewellness.com, and within 9 days of finding out I was balding I had started on Proscar. I am glad that I did not delay. i attribute a lot of my great response to dutasteride to the fact that i started almost instantly after discovering my thinning.

i see that 68% of people in the poll waited more than a year after discovering it. that's truly unfortunate.

I wasn't really aware of balding and how it comes with genetics until I was around 21 and I stared when i was around 22.

I wasn't aware that I was balding, because I didn't really pay attention to it, until a work colleague 'kindly' pointed it out. He did it to be a tosser, but at least it got me to check out what was happening and do something about it. I am a NW3v at the moment, but you can't see my scalp unless there is sunlight directly on the thinning area, so I don't think the years delay has done too much harm. I don't like the phrase denial either. I waited a year because I was weighing up the options and checking out the side effects profiles and wasn't sure I wanted a lifetimes pill popping. I am hoping that I can hold what I have for 5 years and by that time HM will be available in an acceptable and affordable form.
