How long did you use fiber concealers?

I ditched fibers because they were getting me mad. I got sick of :
-applying every morning
-spreading "dust" through all the bathroom(and not only the bathroom)
-being constantly worried about: not sweating, not be caught in the rain, not touch my hair with fingers o touch the head to any object, etc etc. Did i miss something? Sure: heavy wind, etc
Sweat+sebum+concealers=total mess bleah...

I think they are an absolutely no-no for daily use. For a special event-maybe, but daily use simply gets you sick.

I buzzed the hair very short and feel some kind of liberated. I don't even consider having that mess in my hair again. Actually my hair is not that bad, but not perfect either, but putting concealers everyday just drove me insane, i become "addicted" to the perfection illusion it gives. At first, just a small quantity would do the trick, but then i needed more and more perfection, which ment more time to apply, etc.
Now i find out there are even lung health issues with them, so i'm glad i ditched them.
Better be bald(which i;m not really anyway) than creating an illusion of perfect hair, with what cost? Letting some dust fibers dictate your life...

To me, concealer a are like band aid, they are never a permanent solution. The only reason I'm using hair fiber right now is because I'm going through a Finasteride shed, so the scalp on the frontal area and temples is visible. When the shedding stabilizes and hair starts to thicken up, I'll ditch the hair fiber. But on the real, hair fiber is a huge life saver. I used to get depressed when I look into the mirror and see my thinning area, it affected me so much that I'd stay at home all day and not do anything else. Now I can somehow cover up the thinning area and go about my business.

I agree it's such a hassle but everyone I know apart from my immediate family has only seen me with hair fibres in so it's really hard to ditch using them . Does anyone else get a clumpy look to their hair especially when they apply fibre holding spray ? I guess it's cos my hairs long not buzzed .

I agree my concealer (Toppik) and the "full hair confidence" can be addictive. I only use once every couple months on special occasions. Also try and keep it on very limited time to below 6 hours.
I did get clumps once when I put too much concealer on hair that was not cleaned in 2 days. I never used the hair spray and would like to know how that helps?

I also find that I am completely addicted to the hair concealers and have been using them every day for the last 3 years. I started a new job just after I started using them and despite the banter that flies round the office, no one has ever commented or noticed its not my real hair. If anything, the sort of comments I get are 'its alright for you, you'll never go bald' if the subject of hair loss comes up as my colleague is going bald and gets constant stick for it! I could never not use them now and I do feel slightly imprisoned by them but I still think its a small price to pay for not looking bald. Before I used them I would be paranoid about walking under bright lights or if someone was stood behind me I'd be cringing at the thought of them analysing my hairloss! The only time I ever leave the house without them is to go to the barber for a haircut and I hate the experience. I go to an out of town barber where I can park outside and as soon I leave I put a cap on until I get home - I dread the day someone I know walks in for a haircut when I'm in there! As I say, for me it is a small inconvenience for having what appears to be a full head of hair. My hairline is quite strong so the fibres work well for me. I do find that a 2 month supply only lasts me about a month and I try not to put too much in but again, I'm happy to pay the financial cost to look better.

im new to getting a hair system .... but this area im very very good at ! ... be using fibres for about 2 years solid everyday .... do pretty much any style i want too ... the only reason im trying a system is as the original poster said their very time consuming and messy ! plus you cant really get a shine on your hair when using fibres

ive never used a holding spray .... but a few tricks i do know of

A) you can use matt clay think its VO5 i use .... put it on whilst hair is wet from a shower or bath and leave to dry ... when its dry its tacky enough to hold fibres better but not tacky enough to clump it ....

you can be happy with that in itself BUT if your like me and into the slick combover style with graded back and sides you can do B

do the above ..... but go to bed like that with it ... for some reason (dont ask me why) with your loaf rolling around on the pillow all night it sort of works it in i guess

by the time i wake up its fair messy but you'll see youve got some serious volume !!!!! then slap in your favourite gel and because your not putting fibres over the top the shine will still remain

sounds incredibly painstaking but it generally boils down to how much you cherish your hair i guess !!

I have an irregular balding pattern. Without a concealer, people squint and look at the top of my head with a mystified look.

For me, thus, daily use is a sad necessity.

I use dermmatch daily to fill in my temple points. It works wonders as in I can style my hair A LOT easier, shapes my face and most importantly, I don't stress as much as I used to about my hairloss. Certainly worth the hassle for me.

I use them on and off, but 100% agree they can be a pain, and they are never a solution - just merely a stop gap to help you in a selected period.

The mess they make - I had a few bobos to begin with them. Got drunk one night and crashed out on a friend's sofa - woke up with a dark mark over his nice beige sofa.

Paranoia - much like wearing a wig, if you are a paranoid person, toppik/nanofibres etc is going to be a difficult time. I used to dread especially airports and traveling - not just the going through security/customs and the very short lines (people right behind you) but the bright lights too, plus the security scanners. Imagine some super high tech new scanner bleeped at the powdered material and being patted down, or "it's coming from you head".

They can become extremely addicitive - I have both diffuse thinning and my hairline is going. The contrast between thinning to full hair is remarkable at times, and for the times you may curse at it, you realize why you do it.

They are expensive - it's a costly experience.

Exercising and aware of your surroundings - this is the worst part of putting in concealer. If you have dark hair, I don't even dare wear a light shirt for my weekly soccer kickaround game, or when I go to the gym. Then you have the rain, wind, or heck even the sun, plus selecting the right color. I have dark hair and it's not 'black', but then I tried mane spray and their dark brown was more of a brown. Costly.

I'm in the process of wearing concealers again, but this is a stop-gap where I will have to make a decision - wig up, or shave it all of.

Do you use any styling product after applying toppik like hair spray or hair gel?
