How long do Finasteride sheds last?

Never taken finasteride before, however debating trying it as the hair is starting to go thinner and miniaturize on the corner of temples, rest of my hair such as crown is fine but I'm worried that if I go on finasteride it will cause a huge shed which will make the REST of my hair look thing and balding, and I've heard stories of peoples shed never ending and that is my worst nightmare about taking the drug, the fact that shedded hair may not come back.

How long do sheds last and what are the chances of a shed lasting forever and making your hair actually worse?

Honestly I don't 100% buy the idea that finasteride shed is a real thing. It's nice to think any continued hairloss you experience on finasteride is a result of the thin weak hairs being shed as a RESULT of finasteride and being replaced by stronger hair. But in reality I think in most cases it's simply your male pattern baldness progressing (i.e. losing the already weak hairs you would've lost with or without finasteride). I wouldn't be too weary of a finasteride shed. Now minoxidil on the other hand is a different story. The shed on minoxidil from what I hear can be pretty dramatic (hence i'm on finasteride and will use minoxidil as a last resort for regrowth).

I think a Finasteride shed is a very real thing. I'd been self-conscious about my temples for a while so decided to get a Finasteride prescription. 2-3 weeks in I started shedding hair allll over my head to where it looked diffuse.

I think it all depends on the levels of DHT at the time of starting the finasteride that can impact the amount and duration of the shed.

I certainly hope it's a real thing (in the sense that the hairs you lose early while on finasteride will be replaced by stronger hair in time) because i'm shedding a ridiculous amount of puny miniaturized hairs when i comb through it. Been on finasteride for a little over a month. Don't know if there's any science to back up a finasteride shed but would like to think it's real.

finasteride shed definitely is a real thing and it is a myth that it means the drug is working. I didnt even shed before starting finasteride and after it I've shed all over in a diffuse pattern. it's fking horrible i would have had decent hair for at least another 5 years if not for this
