How long do you have your hair system at sides and back?

It totally depends on the style you want to achieve, there is no BEST length.

I would say the minimum is one inch..one cm is very short and the poly rim (if poly) could show. Also, blending with bio at 1 cm is much harder than 1 inch. I had a short haircut once, (with piece sides being about 1cm) and after 5 or 7 days, given my bio hair had grown, the demarcation between piece and hair was obvious, so longer you have, less maintenance cuts of your own bio hair is needed.

IME around 3/4" (1.5-2cm) is still forgiving enough, but shorter than that is harder to blend and maintain, so you'd have to be very committed.
But you can do it if you're committed enough and have the time and patience.

I like really short hair and did that when I was on concealors as it blended better but the opposite is true with a system which I was advised as well. I have it I guess "medium length" now I was advised if I kept the sides the way I had it with concealors the poly would show and really give it away and not look very good.

I keep mine the full 6 inches. Makes it easier for blending myself at home. But I have to be careful of it drying out quicker.
