How long does it take for hair to grow back after Telogen Effuluvium ends?

Sorry to say this, but I think usually someone who has experienced a Telogen Effluvium will not ever recover 100% density. People make Telogen Effluvium sound harmless but it's not, at all. It's just as devastating as Androgenetic Alopecia. Your hair cycles may never completely regulate. That's just my experience and many others'.

Three years later and I'm still waiting. Sometimes it just takes forever when you get the chronic variety.

I think if you had the acute variety of Telogen Effluvium, and if it's over, then Rogaine should theoretically help, a lot. People say you can discontinue use too if you just had Telogen Effluvium and used Rogaine to kick start regrowth, however, I'm very skeptical of this. When you use Rogaine your hair becomes dependent on it. The cause of loss is irrelevant, your hair will become dependent regardless of whether you had Telogen Effluvium or Androgenetic Alopecia. I personally don't see how someone could take the risk of discontinuing a growth agent that very likely only works to keep the hair on your head as long as you use it, regardless of the cause of hair loss. That being said, Rogaine is for life. It's a commitment. This is why it's not always indicated in the treatment of Telogen Effluvium, because the hair could theoretically recover on its own. However, it usually doesn't. I've seen 3 dermatologists and 1 dermatologist PA. 3 out of 4 insisted I try Rogaine. I am now on it to treat what I believe is mostly CTE, with a little bit of underlying Androgenetic Alopecia.
