How Many Hairs Did You Lose A Day Before Hair Loss?

I don't think I ever paid attention to how many hairs I lost a day before my temples and crown started thinning. I didn't wash my hair for past 3 days and lost about 50 combing it!!! It is hard to see the hairs though bc they are light brown or blond. I read guys are only supposed to lose 10 hairs a day accordung to the 60 second hair count, wash test. 10?? really?

How many did you lose before, how many now?

I've looked at that test and the methodology seems flawed to me. Basically it says to wash your hair every morning for three days, then on the next three days in the morning before you wash your hair comb your hair forward for 60 seconds to see how much hair falls out. The test makes several assumptions that I think are flawed:

A. It assumes that 60 seconds of brushing forward will dislodge every loose hair from your head. Who's to say the supposedly non-balding participants didn't miss any hairs left on their head? Did they make sure to cover every area of their head or did they basically just brush from the crown forward?

B. Doesn't account for hair that's actually fallen off of your head between showers, it seems to assume that every hair that's been shed will just stay on your head gracefully for counting the following morning. Everyone messes with their hair throughout the day to some degree. For super accurate measurements, you'd basically have to stick a guy in a room for a week and then check for fallen hairs throughout the entire room.

C. Really just doesn't acknowledge how loose hair can stay stuck to your head, which might make some people overestimate their hair loss. Longer haired people might be affected by this in particular. After I get a haircut I'm still brushing short thick hairs out of my head for like a week.

That's my perspective anyway. I know Points B and C may seem somewhat in conflict, but I think they could both be true in some regard.

@Dan13194 I think you are right about the flaws of the study. I still think 50-100 is too much. I know in male pattern baldness it also matters whether or not those hairs are replaced...

Anyone keeping track of their shedding?

I would be more concerned about the thickness of the hair that's lost rather than the amount. If u notice the hair u are losing is getting thinner and thinner than u know dht is clogging your scalp and u need to act fast to try and reverse it

Mine are very fine and light. They are lighter than the rest of my hair. Since I am under 18 I don't think I can do much about it

My hairs that I shed are extremely thin now. Just keeps getting thinner and thinner. Before hairloss I would never see any hairs anywhere.

Hair fall is completely meaningless, some people shed a ton but just regrow all the time. Counting hairs is pointless, look in the mirror to track progress.

I have thick coarse hair and lose up to 50-100 hairs a day and notice no thinning whatsoever

I have a bit of a recession though
