Gents: I posted a story in the Dealing With Side Effects forum but it is long so in a nutshell:
I was on finasteride (1mg/day) for about 7 years. No side effects. Fall of 2012, I get a nasty case of prostatitis. I got ED for about 10 days. I totally freaked out and decided to quit finasteride.Within a few weeks, total hormone crash with hypogonadal bloodwork to prove it. (I had pre-quit bloodwork and it showed the crazy drop in testosterone.) I got every side effect known times 100.
I go back on finasteride in early March, symptoms improve to almost normal by April then decline. I quit finasteride again thinking it may be the cause. Bloodwork is great, so I know it is not hormones (it could be hormone receptors, though) and by mid-June I am in a world of sh*t with genital pain, low hanging ball sac, and complete impotence.
Go back on finasteride late June. Start to feel better, but have crazy upswingsa nd downswings with some blood in my semen, bad ED, horrible di*k and ball pain, no libido but also have weeks where I feel almost normal again. WTF? Now I am too f***ing scared to quit finasteride again.
How many users here had bad sides (di*k and ball pain,ED, loss of libido) but stuck it out to have them resolve? Any personal stories would be really helpful either way. Thanks, bros.
Note: To the guys on here who are extremely pro-finasteride or anti-finasteride. From my experience, I would tell someone who has never used it not toand anyone who is on it without sexual or mental sides not to quit.
finasteride works but quitting it after 7 years destroyed me. I wish I had not quit or that I had jumpedback on before my testosterone tanked.
