I hate this competition for the sorest loser trophy, it's not a competition, it's a cooperation since we're alone in this. In case you guys forgot, no one else cares about hair loss.

Yes and your problems went away, while mine persist hence our difference. And Fred is an exception to the rule as far as sucess stories go with transplants. SAF would back me up on this. Most dont make it back from nw5 territorry despite how pro active they are... and in many cases are even worse off from the journey. Broke, in debt with see through hair and and no recourse through shaving. Dudemon says hi. So maybe that is my take away silver lining. All thanks to you and your unbridled unrelenting positivity. Th-th-thanks for that.
But if we lived in a reality where there were actual viably realistic solutions to this problem then you could be damned sure that I would have fought for it. Just because there is a will doesn't always mean there is a way. A realist can see through that dimestore positive rhetoric.

House does not suffer from hairloss, so how are we in the same boat again?

Very much agree. For the record, I don't like to compete in nonsense like this but I just wanted to defend myself. Self image problems is a big issue in this world now and it is about time people stop the "pissing contest" and just support each other emotionally. You high Norwood's have convinced me already and everyone else that it's a b**ch to go bald at a young age. Teach these guys to handle it better than you did. Or if you are a success story, please share.

Correction for above statement. House does not suffer from severe hair loss, only minor hair loss and is not in the same boat as myself. Anything he has to say is meaningless and unimportant and deserves a negative rep because only high Norwood's know what its like to have a genetic defect and deserve to be here. (Sorry, I just couldn't resist:))

And I got news for you UCM, I exchanged many PMs with s.a.f. and emails after he was gone. You would be surprised how much his perspective changed over the years. And that is the main reason he is no longer here.

sigh, I will never understand this discussions on this forum. Hairloss at a young age ruins your life, especially at this era were it is all about looks. That is just a f***ing fact and is proven by stories countless times. Well my life is cr*p and my future life is going to be even more cr*p but I just decided to be happy. Nope that ain't gonna happen.

We've never had any pictures from EvilLocks either, so who knows, it may not be as horrible as she says.

I'm not lying about how bad my hair loss is, so I guess you just have to take my word for it. However I do understand your point, and honestly it feels like a slap in the face seeing someone with a seemigly full head of hair claim to be in depression over their "hair loss", which is basically nowhere to be found (but in their head).

I really felt for this guy until I saw his pictures, and thought to myself 'why on earth would this guy hide inside his room, when his hair loss cannot be seen by others?'

Maybe he is loosing his hair and that sucks, but he still has a full head of hair to everyone else. He should stop complaining and go live his life, then come back once his hair loss is actually visible.

OP, I hope you understand that when you post pictures like that people are going to react, because your "hair loss" does not reflect what you say. Like I said, if you have a male pattern baldness diagnosis (which I really think you should get a second opinion on) - keep treating your hair but do not complain that you have to hide inside when in fact you should do the opposite.

Peace.

You do realise that unless finasteride is going to help he will loose his hair, right? The feeling that you are losing it and that your "life" depends on your luck with finasteride can still make someone very depressed... What is the use of being nw1 if you know that in a year you will be a nw3. How is someone supposed to go out and have "fun" while he knows he is balding?

Yes, I do understand. I've been there, and have felt the whole spectrum of feelings when I realised I had Androgenetic Alopecia at the age of 20. It can be very depressing to know you are losing your hair and worry about treatments helping or not, but I'm trying to say that falling into a deep depression where you don't wanna leave the house because of hair loss others can't see, is a bit rude to those who are living with real hair loss. I only say this because I have been in his shoes, in the beginning of my hair loss I spent too much time inside that I should have made more out of. Now I'm forced to hide or get a wig. I understand now how Fred and UCman feels. But it does not mean I don't understand that it feels horrible to know you are losing your hair.

Exactly. How old are you 2young2bald?

17, Looking at old school pictures I realised that I started to lose my hair when I was 14.

Those who are past NW3 don't even have that option to "go out and enjoy their life", they're bald, it's pretty much over for them on the night scene. Picture a NW5 23 years old average guy hitting on a hot 18 year old girl in a bar. NW2 people at least still have a chance to live some good years while seen as normal by their peers.

O my...I shouldn't have pictured that...

I have decided to put up a pic of my hair loss. 1) is my hair now and 2) is my hair approx 7 months ago. Do you see how aggressive my baldness is now? My sides are worst hit, then back of the head. My hairline also moved up a whole cm since the first pic was taken.

I only put up this to prove i do suffer from hair loss and will take it down before the night. i hate seeing my hair even in pics.

I don't understand why people think that you are lying looking at the time you spend here.

I am not saying you don't have an issue, I can look at the pictures and see your point. At the same time, there are a lot of women out there with similar hairlines, and I honestly believe that you and the OP should take seriously the possibility that you are ALSO dealing with a degree of body dismorphic disorder. You need to treat both issues if you want your mind back.

Why not? Did the image cause you distress? But you have the word bald in your name so surley you must already be bald yourself..... that is unless you are another one of those. Sorry you had to have a moment of hypothetical discomfort. Jeez, I am just filled with so much gud dumb compassion for ya right now.

I think all of you NW4+ ****ers needs to take it down a noch. Each of us bears his(her) own hell. All these neg. emotions, distress, self pity that OP and many others are going throught, atm, are probably not lesser than yours. If you're unable to realise that, than you're no better that superficial and chronically dysfunctional society we live in.

I don't get you. No, I am not totally bald yet but that doesn't mean I am delusional in any way, we both know what would happen. Just because you are totally bald doesn't mean you are the only one with the right to complain about this disease. For the first time I agree with maher.

As I was stupid enough to do this when I was 23 (except I was NW7 not NW5 by then) I can tell you exactly what would happen. A great many young women would give you the middle finger. At the very best they will walk away, probably with a dirty look like you are not human. They might even shout and swear at you. But it's better telling you that so you know for sure, instead of having you even more traumatised by actually experiencing it for yourself.

I just always now talk to hot girls at my work, because I know the moment I won't be able to is just around the corner.
Some days ago I made out with a girl, we were walking to her apartment, and what she said just ate my heart out. There was a 25 year old bald guy on the other side of the street. She said: " omg that egghead just looked at me, can't he see I'm with you? ".
I lost the connection to reality at that moment.

I sure hope you banged her like a cheap gong..

I also know I will not graduate my university. First reason is because I can't focus on my studies, because every time I see myself in a mirror, I get reminded that I'm balding. Second reason is that I broke up with the love of my life. I felt bad for it before. Now it feels devastating, and her new boyfriend and her friends learn at my class. I cannot take the pressure, they hate me, I hate them, they just always wait for something to bring me down with. I just am not willing to take that. If the girl finds out... she will regret that she ever dated me.
I am so sorry for the depressing post. I just had to put it out somewhere.

I'm lucky my ex lives in different town and our lives dont interfere- I can easily distance myself. But yeah, I feel you.. I've run into some of her friends this summer at some festival and I was kinda bummed.

To be fair, 'egghead' doesn't mean bald, lol. It's actually a hilarious insult without coming off as an a**h**. IMO, the girl you were with is a keeper based on that comment alone, haha. Check here, it's a scene in Home Alone where Harry calls Marv an egghead (and he's far from bald)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZwOTcLdvH4

Here's the urban dictionary definition of egghead:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=egghead

Notice theres NO reference to baldness? I say you seal the deal with that girl.

Damn, I missed the pics. I wasn't trying to be offensive when asking to see pics. Just trying to see exactly what you are dealing with.
