The hair had to fall out somewhere, it can fall out during the day. I shed hairs during the day and it's really annoying seeing hairs on my work table and keyboard.

How long did you have long hair for? If you didn't have long hair for long chances are you started thinning before that and your long hair covered up the damage or you just never noticed it before or no one told you.

long hair for about 2 years, it still isnt noticiable to other people, just me. I can still get fairly good coverage. I just need to find out if its male pattern baldness which i think it is because the thinning is distributed in those areas.

well anyway i mix black tea with saw palmetto and rub it on my scalp everynight haha

thanks for the replies!

At 16 how? All 16 year olds have boosted dht, my theory is that the weight lifting kick started it :

Is there anything I can do to keep my hair untill I'm 30? Can't take finasteride till I'm older :(

I doubt weights did that much damage since you are so young and in such a short time.

You just need to relax and keep an eye on it.

Best to keep doing what your doing and hope for the best. You may not have male pattern baldness and your hair may come back on it's own.

I started losing at 14. I'm 19 now and luckily it's still just my hairline, which would be concealable if it wasn't for the massive nick out of the center. Speculating is futile, if you really want to know you should get it confirmed by a pro.

thanks for replying!!

i think my mum might let me go to a derm in 3 months, thats what the doctor said because he thinks its gonna thicken up in 3 months because we got rid of the inflammation! I always remember having a red hot scalp. Its gone now though

i have ordered minoxidil, should i start it?? can topical saw palmetto help??

is it possible that the weight lifting and supllements created to much dht in my scalp which made it diffuse because i am ceceptible to it? i stopped doing weights and more cardio now. Could it grow back untill the real time od genectic balding starts in my 20"s?

I would wait and see the derm before doing anything.

DHT is only one thing that causes male pattern baldness, it's not even the main reason.

Try keeping your hair the same length and taking photos every month under the same conditions.

It's also worth keeping an eye on hairs that fall out during showers and maybe your pillow.

Thanks, What should I be looking out for in shed hair ?

I have curly hair all over my head except the top where it has changed alot straighter

Somedays I think it's thickening up but I dunno :(
It's just the fear of it grtting worse . I looked at photos of both cousins, they are both around 30 and nearly bald, they receded though and I have diffuse so that gives me hope!

thanks for your help

Counting hairs is a bad habit in my opinion. Everyone sheds hairs and there is no way you're going to catch every single hair anyway. It'll drive you absolutely mad. I only notice around 2 hairs falling off my head every week or so but I definitely have male pattern baldness. It's the hairs still on your head that really tell a story so a miniaturization test is the best you can do.

I'm not saying count all the hairs. When he showers and applies the shampoo on his scalp he should have a look at his fingers and hand to see if hair is falling out.

It is natural to shed hair during a wash, but if he is shedding a great amount (+100) of hair it is a concern. I don't expect him to count all the hairs but he can compare it visually between days.

This my opinion but if you are shedding thick long hair, that is a good sign and those should grow back, I would be more concern with real short hairs. Those are imo the ones that will continue to miniaturize and fail to grow back.

i can usually on find 2 or 3 in the shower, and they look thickish, sometimes i find a whispy one but yeah.

I have some hope that my hair will thicken up.

THEORY: I have the genetics for the sensitivity to DHT in the scalp, Im 16 DHT is already high but the male pattern baldness trigger starts at 20.
I start lifting weights on top of taking nasty protein shakes boosts my DHT even higher which thins my hair out on all the sensitive DHT regions.

Now: if i stop lifting weights ( which i have) do regular cardio, and stay healthy, hopefully my dht goes down and my hair thickens up? This could explain diffuse thinning instead of receding which my genetics are made up of

any ideas??

Keep doing cardio if you are that concern, but I doubt the shakes and weights did that much damage.

then explain why my hair was so thick when i started lifting weights, that the hairdresser would thin it out!, 4 months on weights- sudden hairloss no noticiable shedding :O

So confusing, i have been taking photos everymonth, will update in 2 months before i go to derm. been taking saw palmetto and applying it topically with tea, drinking black tea with soy, omega 3 and revita, nizoral shampoo

thanks for helping out, i hope my hair thickens up

Hopefully that is what happened, but I have heard stories of people losing hair quickly.

From the photo I saw you had a style that would cover up hair loss. It would only become noticeable after a hair cut.

Regardless stay positive.

thanks

one thing i remember is having a red scalp for the past 2 years and when i was 14 it was really ichy! My mum would just tell me it was sunburnt or something haha

they think hairloss cannot be cured etc, they think im an idiot :(

It really bugs me when guys that are in their 40;s come on here and freak out about their tiny receding hairline, Im 16 and i have thin as hell hair on top, id rather have a receding hairline so i know its male pattern baldness and start treating it!

I propably wont be able to take finasteride because i want my body, if its male pattern baldness hopfully minoxidil and spironolactone cream will able to keep my hair for a few more years till a better cure

Your parents are right there is no cure, best you can do is hold it off.

I know this won't help but look up Jonjo Shelvey, the guy is only 19 and is completely bald, I can't even find a pic of him with any hair at all.

What I am trying to say is, as tough as it is for you he has\had it tougher. He seems to live with his baldness quiet well and is a professional sports person.
