Many say using topical spironolactone is very safe and it does not mess with the hormones in your body as it is not absorbed into the blood. I was wondering how true this is as i'm worried about it effecting my hormones.

I have seen a few posts on here with guys saying they were sure topical spironolactone lowered their testosterone levels?

So how safe is topical spironolactone? Can it alter or lower testosterone and DHT in the blood?

Well I began taking spironolactone on Friday morning, twice a day & already I'm experiencing watery semen and floppy erections... not as severe as with Finasteride, but still very noticeable.

I'm going to stick with it for 2weeks and if the side effects don't go anyway then I'll cut it back to a once a day application and go from there. Really hoping and praying that the sides don't continue as I've already tried finasteride and only have Revivogen left to experment with.

I'll let you know how it goes.

There was a study where participants covered half their bodies in topical spironoloctane and there were no visible traces of the drug in the blood steam.

Yep, heard about that study many times on here already, although apparently the sample size was pretty small.

Anyhow, I'm sure spironolactone is safe for 98% of people, perhaps I'm just one of those unlucky people in the other 2%...

I'm not here to scaremonger believe me, I really hope I can ride out these sides because without finasteride and spironolactone I'll have very little chance of maintaining what is left of my hairline.

I have been on topical spironolactone from Dr. Lee for almost two months without sides. Anyone experiencing less hair loss yet?

Bornin89- what made you choose the 2% spironolactone over 5%? Applying it twice daily? whats you current regimen and where did you get the spironolactone?

finasteride. is a pill (most of the times..you didn't specify)you said you are taking spironolactone.
Are you taking a pill or are you using the topical?

Big difference!

How long ago did you stop using finasteride.?[/quote]

Sorry,

I stopped using finasteride after a month in February, everything went back to normal soon after.

What's infuriating is that I've been using Topical spironolactone twice a day, for the last week and have been experiencing the same sides. I know that on nearly every site they say it has no systematic effects and doesn't get absorbed etc, etc, but these sides are unmistakably obvious! Depression, drowsiness, ED, watery semen all the stuff I used to get with finasteride.

For two nights this week I attempted to have sex with my girlfriend but it just would not stay hard or reach its normal size... The same happened when I tried to masturbate.

It would be convenient for me to blame this on various other factors except that the previous week, despite a 3-day London marathon of heavy drinking/smoking/junk food and little sleep, I still managed to go home and satisfy my girlfriend with erections that were much stronger and more durable than those I've experienced this week.

As I said before, I'm not here to scaremonger but purely sharing my personal experience and if none of you folks have experienced erectile problems, then that's great!

I think I must be hyper-sensitive to changes in DHT/Testosterone and given that topical spironolactone has a systematic half-life of 16-35 hours, I think there's a possibility it's affecting my hormones.

I use 2% liquid because I'm a diffuse thinner and it would be hard to apply the 5% cream. And my regimen is just the spironolactone once per day. I got it from Dr Lee's site.

If you are worried about the minoxidil shed but still very much interested in hair regrowth, then I would recommend using a copper peptide spray like Tricomin or Folligen as a preliminary conditioning treatment for 3months.

The Copper Peptides will help speed up the growth of your hair so the shed is less noticeable and also increase the size of your hair follicles, so that they can absorb more minoxidil and respond better to treatment. The is scientifically proven.

this is a possibility. I am not doing finasteride. messed with that twice and neither time did the sides completely go away... i gave it a little over 100 days. Im doing topical spironolactone and its been two months, but i feel as it is doing nothing (i know its still early). Should I do minoxidil again? Im diffused. i have pics in some of my posts i believe from about a year ago. it has gotten a little worse.
