Hey

I seem to be having issues with attaching tape to a lace system. It just doesn't seem to stick to the lace at all?

When i pull the backing paper off the tape, it pulls off the whole tape and it gets so fiddly.

Am I missing something here? I've washed, shampooed, and used isopropyl alcohol on the base and cleaned all residue yet it just doesn't stick properly.

Any advice please?

What tape are you using? Anytime this happens to me I always clean it really good with alcohol and it fixes it. Also squeeze between your fingers the top of the tape and bottom of base together for a few seconds.

It all seems pretty apparent, but I can tell you without a doubt that “scrubbing” the edge of the lace with alcohol always does it for me. Of course don’t scrub to the point of tearing but I do put more into it than just gliding my rag across.

I am using Walker ultra hold mini tabs. Hmm okay I’ll give the alcohol a try.
Would a knot sealer help?

I’ve never used knot sealer. It seems gimmicky to me, but that’s solely my opinion and have nothing to back it up with. Maybe some more experienced folks can chime in on that.

I use ultra hold around the perimeter as well and never have issues.

My personal experience with knot sealers is that they don't prevent shedding, and can impede the tapes from sticking to the lace.

still struggling with the tape - i've tried scrubbing alcohol onto the base to ensure its clean and free of adhesive but the tape just doesn't want to stick!
It gets so fidgety and awkward trying to take the backing paper off the tape without pulling the whole tape right off.
Not sure what else to try - I do maintenance in the bathroom so don't have access to a hair dryer.

Is there such thing as 'old tape'? Someone suggested I buy new tape from an approved supplier

I have some Walker tape mini's and they came off the backing paper really easily and once on the unit the second sheet of front paper also came off really quickly and easily. You're probably right in that your packet is a dud.

It is just glue so I imagine if the packet was exposed to extreme temps during storage/transport, then yeah the glue might have deteriorated. Plus of course it could just be a dud batch and the machine that was creating the glue had some issues that day.

Deffo try another pack as the ones I have were faultless and I went from applying tape to having the unit on my head in minutes.
