I have to colour my full cap (transparent, clear swiss lace) from medium brown to dark brown, but I want to protect the lace from getting stains. I've seen some people on youtube using different kind of products on the lace, but I don't quite get which one works best to protect the lace (without doing any other harm to the lifespan of the wig).

Some use vaseline, one had a got2be glue spray... would normal hairspray do the job too, if applying a thick layer.

Are there better products around to protect the lace from stains? Best would be things I get in any drugstore because I have to colour the wig within in the next 48 hours, thus no time for online purchase...

Hi,

I colour mine using a semi permanent colour mask.

It will wash out over time but healthy for your system. Nowhere near as harsh as dye and won't stain your base.

I'm in the UK and use a brand called Maria Nila. Check them out and see if you have similar there.

I’ve colored a few wigs and totally get the struggle. Got2b Glued spray works pretty well, just make sure it fully dries before applying dye. Vaseline can work too, but is messier and harder to wash out. Haven’t tried regular hairspray, but if you are going to try it, I’d be cautious about residue. For quick solutions, check if your local drugstore carries lace protectant sprays. Also, you can contact LuvMe Hair for specific advice. Sometimes their customer support via the luvme hair phone number can help fast.

Get the strongest hair gel you can find. Apply it to the lace and let it harden—then color away! It comes off very easily.

To protect lace when coloring a wig, secure the wig on a mannequin head and flatten the lace using Got2B Glued Spray or gel. Apply a barrier like petroleum jelly or freeze spray along the lace to block dye absorption. Use a brush to apply color carefully, avoiding the lace and hairline. If dye touches the lace, wipe it off immediately with a damp cloth. After coloring, rinse and gently shampoo to remove residue. For added protection, use plastic wrap over the lace. This helps maintain a clean, natural look and prevents staining during the dyeing process.
