How To Save on Minoxidil

I use Kirkland Minoxidil so not sure if this applies to Rogain or other brands.

Years ago Minoxidil use to come with a sprayer. You could cover a large area of your head using very little. You could use very small pushers of the sprayer for smaller areas and move it closer or farther from your head depending on the area of coverage you needed.

Once the manufacturers realized this, they removed the sprayer and replaced it with the stupid eye dropper thing because they knew it is much more wasteful. You end up with a large quantity in the spot where you squeeze the eye dropper and can not spread it around as well.

So after a year of using the eye dropper, I went to Walmart and bough a bottle of Consort men's hair spray with the sprayer. They normally have the spray cans which is what you don't want. Get the dark blue, almost purple colored bottle.

I took the sprayer off the bottle and cut the straw down to fit in a 2 oz. minoxidul bottle and screwed the sprayer on. It fits perfectly. Now my minoxidil lasts almost twice as long.

Good tip but I think it's down to personal preference. The spray is more likely to get caught in hair (unless applied to an advanced balding spot) whereas the dropper can be applied directly to scalp where it can be spread and rubbed in. Contact to scalp is most important.

Kinda sux being in US, I guess. Over here we get the spray, long spray and the roller when you buy the package. Then again we only got one package with 3 bottles and it's 5% only. Wow. You actually think that replacing the spray with a dropper is some sort of conspiracy by the manufacturers? That is one of the silliest things I've ever heard.

As I mentioned, the sprayer can be brought right up to the scalp also and very small strokes used to get more uniform coverage.

I feel sorry for you not having taken an economics class as yoiu just become prey to big business. Of course the sprayer was removed so more would be wasted.

The weed killer manufactures did the same thing. A sprayer that gave you a choice of a narrow straight stream or a wide pattern of a fine mist was replaced with one that only gave you a straight narrow stream. Try to covet a weed with that and you will see how much more Iis needed and wasted.

Another example is a contact lense cleaner that cost $5 and lasted 6 months because you used a couple drops and rinsed it with distilled water. The company that made the product was bought out and the new company quickly stopped making it so people have to use the more expensive saline solution that lasts a month.

I bet you think pharmaceutical companies actually lose money but do so to help people with their medicine.

I feel sorry for you for seeing conspiracies where there are none. It must really suck living life like that although I think there may be some meds you can take to alleviate the paranoia a bit. You may want to talk to your doctor.

Absolutely no one would agree with you that the sprayer is better than a dropper, unless they were slick bald or it was their intention of bathing their hair in monoxidil rather than getting it on the scalp where it belongs.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion on your preference for the spray, but to say that replacing it with a dropper is some sort of conspiracy against the consumer is absolutely ridiculous.

I bet you wear tin foil hats as a defense against alien mind control.

Ive just tried to imagine your method here and i just dont see how it can be any better than the dropper. The instructions say either 5squirts dropper, or 6 presses for the spray to give 1ml. What i mean is that i think people will end up using the 1ml each application regardless of applicator. So its not really an issue re cost.
There can be no doubt that the dropper is the only way of getting the stuff direct to scalp, without wasting on coating hair - and so wasting money!
Also found that I inhaled in more minoxidil when using the spray.

I Am assuming your meaning rogaine when you say minoxidil. Here in uk we still get the three different applicator tips with each box.
