How well do wavy hair systems hold their waves? Also volume/bounce?

I believe most wavy hair systems are made that way through a process so I was wondering how well that form stays. I'm thinking it might just depend on the manufacturer and hair type or the way it's styled but I'm not sure.

I have seen some hair systems that look flat that at least to someone looking for hair systems like myself (plus also knowing they're wearers) notices, so that's where the question about volume, but more-so about bounce comes in, since I know losing hair/volume is inevitable.

Yeah, it's almost always a chemical permanent wave and will last longer than the lifespan of the hairpiece. After several months the waves will start to relax a little maybe.

There are rare exceptions tho. Toplace used to sell wavy pieces that were only heat styled with a curling iron, so washing the hair once would kill the wave. I think anything looser than 17mm was just styled with a curling iron, but he didn't warn the customers of this unless specifically asked (which is pretty shitty imo) and there were some posts on the old TL forum from unsuspecting customers who were justifiably upset that their curls washed out before they'd even worn the piece once.

There are different kinds of chemical perms, mainly acid and alkaline. Acid perms are gentler on the hair but not as long lasting (may start to relax after only 2-3 mos), but I'm pretty sure most or all wig factories are using alkaline perms.

Helpful stuff thanks, now I know I'll most likely wanna find out that they're using alkaline.. The curling iron case sounds pretty terrible

I think it's be smarter if the companies made their stock hair something a bit wavier than "body wave."
