ok for all of you who have done some deep research: I'm a diffuse thinner, but its on the top only, so I think it's pattern baldness. However, I also show the signs of hypothyroidism, which are also the signs of ADD, which I was diagnosed as having. Now I took a blood test for hypothyroidism, and I seemed healthy, even though they didn't check the t cells (or whatever they are called), but I have also been taking ritalin, which is an amphetamine, and was wondering if the ritalin could have altered the blood test. I don't know who else to ask -- maybe bryan will know this -- but thanks in advance, you guys are always big helps.

dude I don't know much about it but I do know for some reason my hair really goes to the dogs after taking amphetamines. For a couple of days, massive shedding all over my pillow.

This is a really old thread but I typed in Adderall and this guy doofy has some posts claiming that Adderall caused his hairloss to accelerate but i dont know how he could know that for sure.

I don't have ADD but I will take Adderall once in a while to boost my motivation/concentration...should I expect my hairloss to speed up while using the occasional Adderall? Are amphetamines proven to cause/speed up hairloss?

I just recently started talking Adderall so when i read some of his posts it kind of worried me

I been on adderall before and notice no hairloss when taken as prescribed. Infact my hair improved on adderall, not nescasarrily becauses of it.

If you shoot, sniff or misuse adderall in anyway you may risk losing your hair among other things.

Make sure you eat well and take a good B complex with vitamin C. Just take the vitamin C well away from the adderall.

boston hawk,

First of all hypothyroid has nothing to do with ADD. The test is a TSH test. I highly doubt ritalin interacts with thyroid function but I cannot remove it from the realm of possibility since it interacts with dopamine. FYI-Symptoms of hypothyroid include constipation, fatigue, depression, hairloss, swelling all over, being cold all the time.
