I am a 17 year old who is a norward 2.5 and i have been receding since 15 and a half. About 6 months ago my hair was still thick and therefore easy to style, these days it has diffused in the frontal 3rd. I shed quite a bit, if i scratch my hair for about a minute i can get 10 hairs out!!! What should be my plan of action guys, i have literally no idea what to do.

I have been on Fincar (1.25mg finasteride) for 5 months and literally nothing has improved. I have receded a bit but my main problem is that my hair has thinned out in the frontal third. Would anyone suggest adding minoxidil or should i just ride this out for longer? If so, how long? I have a strong feeling that the Fincar is fake because of the fact that nothing has happend my hairloss has just progressed a little faster than it was doing.

OH AND PLEASE DO NOT GIVE ME CRAP ABOUT TAKING FINASTERIDE TOO YOUNG!!!
-I would just like answers please, thankyou-

Do you have any comparison pictures? How is your diet? Stress? Do you work out? finasteride takes a while to start working, you may not even see results for a year +.

I'm not going to lecture you on taking finasteride at your age as that is your choice. I just want to give you a fair warning that when I took finasteride at 18 for a year I was left with sexual side effects and brain fog, I'm still trying to recover from both. Be careful.

They say it's best to give finasteride at least 8 months before comcluding it's not working for you. Even better a year. Keep in mind, if you don't lose any more hair in the year, it is working. Maintenence is the biggest thing with finasteride, after 8months to a year if you don't get enough regrowth, then start on min maybe. For now it would be best to start using Nizoral shampoo to go along with the finasteride which would likely help out some as well.

I really think you should see a doctor. You might have a some sort of hormonal imbalance that triggers your hairloss.

You are too young to be suffering male pattern baldness...

Actually thats not too young at all. Its very common, unfortunately. I started receding about that time as well.

Just ride it out.. 5 months is still early to see the full effects of finasteride. If you're really up to it then you might wanna consider minoxidil, but the initial shed SOME ppl get can be crazy

17 year on finasteride isn't a good idea.

When you reach 23, speak like a little girl, have breasts and can't get an erection..... :hump: Seriously seek a doctor's opinion.
