I really want to take and at Dr.Hasson says I need to start taking it now. However I read all the horror stories of people who took it and had perm side effects that have not gone away years after they quit taking it. Please any and all propecia stories and and advice would be very helpful.

No, you shouldn't be terrified, if you're that terrified start with the lowest effective dosage.

I've been on it almost a year and I've had no sides at all. Most who do experience sides only have them the first couple weeks then they stop. Permanent sides are NOT as common as those websites and forums lead you to believe. Don't worry about it and just take it. It will be the best treatment for your hair.

Its also been documented that some of the people with sides just had it "all in their mind" the placebo effect sure can be a pain at times lol. People actually reported side effects on the placebo pill during a study.

While I don't doubt that finasteride does have side effects, I'm utterly convinced that they are quite uncommon in the real world.

Most of the posts from people who claim to have had significant side effects appear to be somewhat, well, unhinged...

With any medication which has potentially unwelcome side effects, people naturally start looking for them. In many cases I'm certain that one may actually start creating the side effects in ones own mind which can have a physical effect.

Guys in particular are usually so obsessed with erectile dysfunction that almost anything can put them off their game :)

If you're really that worried get regular blood work done with your GP to keep track of your hormone levels.

In short then, finasteride is fine; fill your boots.

No, not at all. Propecia works fine, is very well tested, and very well tolerated.

And if you are so unlucky as to have side effect, rest assured that they will go away a few weeks after discontinuation; as every piece of research an clinical experience suggest.

You'll lose your morning erections too, that indicates that the problem is physical. Keeping track of hormone levels is a good advice, but hormones can all be in range, and still give you a lot of trouble.

Don't be too sure. Secondary hypogonadism doesn't go away when you quit the drug. Nor does erectile dysfunction caused by atrophied penile muscles. Gynecomastia might have to be removed by surgery.
