I've been on the medication for about 2 years to date, no side effects, nothing until last week.
Anyway, last week I noticed I could barely urinate and my urethra/bladder area felt inflamed and irritated. After thinking it was just a UTI, I decided to not pay a visit to my doctor. A weeks passes, same symptoms, so I think to myself this can't be a UTI.
I decide make an appointment with a urologist and they do a few tests to check for STD's/UTI's competely clean. Doctor tells me he needs to check out my prostate. As soon as he goes deep and touches my prostate I SCREAM! It was so painful, and there immediately he tells me I have prostatitis because of the sharp pain and the fact no bacteria did not show up on the urinalysis and culture test.
He tells me to lay off finastride for a while and to take antibiotics just in case it wasn't caused by finasteride.
When I got home and google "finasteride and prostatitis" and I found other threads of people complaining about prostate problems.
So, anyone else have problems with their prostate with finasteride? I just think it's funny because finasteride is supposed to be used to solve any prostate enlargement.
