This is so f*****g unfair , I already had so much problems in my life , I've stopped studying for years now that I'm 25 I start 1st year college(!!!!!) and I loose 50% of my hair mass in less than a year . Just 9 months ago I had a head full of hair , I was kinda handsome lots of hair and I looked 5 years younger than I was .I went to take a haircut and I told this stupid b**ch not to cut them to short ,she cut them bad and shorter than I said .
Now with just a little light over my head I can see my scalp , the hair on my temples are gone and it's so f*****g ugly , just 20 minutes ago I found myself crossing the street because a group of girls where coming in the opposite direction .
I can't take it .... this to much , I've started finasteride , minoxidil and other things not long ago and who knows how much time it will take to be effective IF IT IS .
I cant' believe I'm considering buying a toupee but I think I won' t be able to apply topical meds so I don't really know what to do ...

f***

I know what you're feeling...just stop being so distressed....I know...is really difficult...to do this...I'm 23 is also my first year in university...I quit first time university and now I because of stress I was thinking that I couldn't take it anymore...and is better to quit also this one...same problem with girls...I don't have confidence...I barely tried to date with one...2 weeks ago...and it seems to not work also with this one...I have also a lot of problems...and I was thinking for the entire last week about suicide...still thinking...I just started medication 3 days ago...I have to wait now for a year...to see if it is working or not...is really hard to describe how I'm feeling...I've been involved already into a lot of problems...and now with the hair...is like somebody stab my heart...My only hope is this medicine...another guy gave me hope...he said that he was like me at 20 years...when he has noticed the hair loss...for a year he waited with shaved head...and after almost 1 year and half...he regained almost everything...he is for 11 years with propecia...and he is happy!so...I was thinking just to stay around for another year...and so...and...then I don't know what I'll do...I'll be happy or ...not...and this is wrong ...I can don anything when I'm feeling distressed...but just be patient...for a year...

aw man, I totally feel for you. And yeah I fully intend to buy a toupee/hair system if I ever find my hair gets to a point where I don't know how to save it.

I know where you're at dude. Stick with finasteride and ride it out for a few months. You may get growth and be fine for the next ten years.

Thanks guys ,it's nice to read posts like that .
I received the nanogen fibres , it works better than I expected , should do the trick for some time . The only thing I can do is hope now ... even if I don't have much left .

There are so many different approaches though that's the thing. I mean as I've said my approach is to treat the hair loss specifically in the short term, and try to pinpoint any underlying factors that may be causing issues (such as insulin levels, thyroid imbalance, SHBG levels, testosterone and estrogen (and even just DHT) levels, I even have very mild anemia so maybe that didn't help O.O ) in the long term.

But yes :) So it's really up to you!

I would personally say that more often than not for young guys with considerable male pattern hair loss, there is PROBABLY something going underneath the surface that is affecting health. And I don't even mean something any worse than anyone else, just enough to trigger sensitive hair follicles. I am still new to all this, but the things I've mentioned cause things like hormonal imbalance and inflammation, so why wouldn't they affect of trigger male pattern baldness - right?

Wrong 99.9% of the time its just genetic m.p.b.

I had doubts about my hair loss being male pattern baldness because of the extreme pain I had in the scalp and the fact that I had strong seborrheic dermatitis .
I stall have though because each doctor has a different opinion on the scalp pain , one said it's an inflammation cause by the hair falling , an other one said it's psychological etc ...
I think they don't know at all what's causing this

That's precisely my point :) Man I am really glad there are people who think similarly to me on here! It's never cool being the only one!

Preston, I would say almost definitely it's the inflammation. It seems like the more inflammation there is, the more there is for DHT to "trigger". Of course, don't forget that stress I believe causes inflammation and probably DHT and estrogen increases as well, so you want to watch stress and similar things as well.

I'm not sure about treatments for SD - how does mainstream medicine try to treat it? Are they able to?

I think the burden of proof would be on YOU, Hoppi, to prove that it's more than just genetic male pattern baldness.

He might be exaggerating, of course. It might be only 98% or 99%, instead of 99.9%! :)

aw heh :)

Well basically I just really believe that hormonal balance and a low level of inflammation in the body goes a long way. I mean we believe in stuff like the anti-inflammatory effects of Nizoral, so why not help to keep your BODY'S inflammation nice and low too? And if things like stress, bad diet and thyroid conditions throw hormones and inflammation off, then why not research this and incorporate it into a regimen?

At the moment I am on a mild finasteride dose and Nizoral and that too, but I'm hoping that when I get my inflammation nice and low and my hormones balanced, I may only need a very mild finasteride dose and something to balance my T and E, keep my T nice and healthy, if that. Who knows eh? It can hardly hurt though :)

I don't really want to blast my body with chemicals or anything if it might be capable of regulating itself.
