I need some useful info on my soreness. I've searched and searched and haven't found any information worthwhile about this soreness issue.

When I had a lot of hair all over my head, the top, crown and frontal hairline were sore, starting when I was 18-19 till about 22 when all that hair really diminished.

Now I am 24. I have crap for a hairline, and not much of a crown. That area no longer gets soar. Now the sides and back of my head (whats left of my hair) are sore like a b*tch! To top it all off, my head is really greasy.

Is it the combo of soreness and grease thats killing my hair?

I'd like to hear from people that had that sore greasy feeling prior to using any meds. What have you done to cure the problem? (providing there is a cure...)

Well I do know I was extremely oily as a teen. I'm talking hair AND face. The extreme acne was no picnic either. A dermatologist put me on acutane and the well dried up. I was 16 and that was when I noticed hair beginning to fall. Has been ever since.

It seems as if a LOT of guys noticed the itching/irritated scalp associated with male pattern baldness (including myself), so unfortunately male pattern baldness is probably what you are experiencing. That is at least a 95% chance of what it is.

Sounds to me like you have either got a circulation problem, scalp disorder or bad diet at hand.

I would wash my hair every day and massage my scalp to keep my scalp clean and well circulated. I would eat healthily and take suppliments, as a poor diet can influence your scalp to inflame and become greasy.

I would take suppliments such as green tea extract and alpha lipoic acid, as they reduce scalp inflamation internally. I would use Tea trea oil and nizoral for topicals. Hope this helps and yes the soreness and grease are contributing to your hairloss. Check this link

http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-sebum.htm

The hair grease known as sebum clogs the hair follicles with dht and bacteria in it. Dht is what is making you lose your hair. The bacteria is what is harming your scalp and enhancing your hairloss.

Thank you all for the advice.

I use Nizzoral, almost everyday. Its the only thing that keeps my scalp free from soreness and grease.

I'll look into the suppliments. Right now I take a centrum multi-vitamin, along with msm, b-6, E, and silica. I'll make some changes to that.

Anyone have any input on upgrading to the nizoral 2%? I use the stuff I can purchase at the supermarket, but its only 1%.

if it is a bacterial or fungal infection, use an application of manuka honey from new zealand mixed with cinnamon or oregano, oregano kills the bacteria that causes folliculitis and many many others, there are many studies for all of this stuff, its not just crazy folk medicine.

this is all even before you decide you even have male pattern baldness, i thought i had it because my derm said i did without taking any real look at my scalp or asking me any questions about anything, just wanted me to talk some stupid pills that i had no idea were in them nor exactly how they worked, propecia or whatever. upon observing what ws going on with my life i had experianced much stress, so im slowly improving that area of my life instead, and also realized that whatever was happening to my head was an itch that was slowly spreading around, like a bacteria or a fungus, so I upon these new observation searched for somthing to kill of this bacteria, started this stuff a couple days ago itch is way down, losing less hair, making progress everyday. Forget what anybody says about whatever you have, make very good and precise direct observations as to what may be correlated/connected with it then form your opinions based on that and make hypothesis to be tested. Indirect information only clouds you judgement, What do your eyes and experiance tell you.

Ive tried all of this stuff and nothing has worked for me even using it regularly for months. I might try a low dose of propecia to see if thats what causing my itch.
