All the problem with shaved head is that if your thah far in male pattern baldness as I am, the sides of your head where the hair still grows will look much darker than the slick top of your head.

I think it still looks better than having a few thing hairs floating around. A tan and shaving every other day will help minimize the darker sides. One of those hair removing creams might work even better but i've never tested one on my head.

i have concerns of shaving my head this summer, will my hair regrow more thicker then now ?

If your on finasteride or something then by the time it grows back it might be a bit thicker. However for people that aren't going bald if they shave their hair will be the same when it comes back. It might look a bit thicker because the ends of the hair are flat so the entire hair is the same thickness, where as normal grown hair tapers into a point.

Hmm why don't people with stark white heads simply tan the head so it looks darker?

Your best off cutting it down to the 1st clipper size then tanning for a week before shaving it all. However if you have no tan to begin with you should be okay. It's only when your pretanned that you could end up like this:

At least you guys can shave your heads. My ears are pointy so i would look like an elf, thats my only problem. i got a good jawline and facial features, but my ears are preventing me from shaving my head. Any suggestions

Just go for it. A good face will make up for the ears. Besides i doubt people will point out your ears unless your talking spock like ears.

I have the same problem: my ears. They are quite big and stick out far. I have looked into otoplasty (ear tuck) but I am very worried about the side effects/possible problems. I know they say very few %age of people who get the surgery have issues but they said the same about accutane and it is in the process of taking all my hair. I think ear surgery can also help w/ ur pointy ears, not sure but you may want to research it.

Congrats mattam, glad to hear you had the guts to do it and are satisfied w/ the results. At the rate my hair is falling out all over from the accutane I may not have a choice w/in a year or 2. Just wish I did not have this long head and big ears or I would have done it by now. I know everyone has features about their head that they are self-conscious about that would keep them from doing it. The good news is I have natural dark skin but my head is long and quite large. And, unfortunately, its not a large head like a person with a big body so it looks normal. I am talking big head and skinny body, ugh.

I tried to cover the balding areas with eye shadow and I looked pretty goog and young with it but as you would understand I can not were it on my head:(

Any advice or experience?

Cheers

im doing something similar to you. i use an eyeliner to cover the small thin spots and it works, also looks natural. i'm going to do this while i give propecia time to do it's work. if i can only get my hair back to 2 or 3 month before starting propecia im good. if the eye shadow worked for you why did you stopped it? wait a minute im confuse where did you use the eye shadow, lol, eye used the eyeliner on my scalp.

sorry to be a bore, but...

Tanning your scalp if you're white is a seriously f*****g bad idea. If you burn, you will lose more hair, as your scalp will go into shock and start releasing more antibodies to mop up the damage. Moreover, do you really want to end up in your 50's and 60's with a dome which is wrinkly, covered in liverspots as well as being bald?!?

Actually I do not like the tanned head. I like non tanned scalp where you hair used to be. Just tanned face! It looks like you have lot of hair but you have just shaved it off!

If the treatments do not work for me and I have to shave my head do you guys think that this might be an option to inhibit the hair growth on the sides and rest of the hair on the top in order not to have the shadows of the rests of the hair on the head?

No that finally free product is a scam. You'd have to get electrolysis or laser to remove the hair for good.

I tell you guys what I do when I shave my head. After I cut it with the clippers I use my electric razor and it will totally get the dark sides and the back. You will not have a single hair on your head. Plus it will not cut you either.

This is from FDA site:

Like needle epilators, tweezers epilators use electric current to remove hair. The tweezers grasp the hair close to the skin, and applied current travels down the hair shaft to the root. And, like needle epilators, electric shock is possible if the tweezers touch the skin instead of grabbing the hair. Tweezers epilator manufacturers can claim permanent hair removal if they can provide supp orting data.

"Tweezers epilators are relatively new," Watson says, having been brought into the market only about 20 years ago. "Because they don't use a needle, they are supposed to be less painful than the older devices, which have been around for more than a hundred years," he says.

Needle epilators are exempt from premarket notification; tweezers epilator manufacturers, however, must submit to FDA data showing their devices are substantially equivalent to similar devices already on the market. FDA is currently reviewing this policy.

"On Aug. 14, 1995, FDA published a Federal Register notice requesting manufacturers of tweezers epilators to submit safety and effectiveness data," Watson says. "After the information is analyzed, the agency will decide what kind of clearance will be required for these devices."

Do you mean that all these electric epilators are scam or you mean that just this finally free epilator is scam?? Could you recommend one that is not scam, please??

Cheers

They're all a scam. You can read all about it on any hair removal forum. Like i said you'd have to get electrolysis or laser to remove the hair for good. There is no other way.
