I Don't Understand How My Brothers Aren't Balding

This makes no sense to me at all how I inherited aggressive hair loss starting at 19/20 (am 23 now), and they're 25 and 26 and don't have any hair loss whatsoever. It amazes me every time I see them again, that they both have strong NW1's with great density, especially given that I have been on finasteride/dutasteride for 3 years, and they haven't taken sh*t. Every time we have a family gathering I expect them to have some recession or thinning starting, but nope. I don't understand how I inherited this gene when there is literally no one in my entire family tree who started losing hair before 30 (most start losing in late 40s to early 50s). It seems that most people who start balding young have a strong family history of it, and their siblings bald young as well. Truly don't understand where I inherited this sh*t from. Anyone else in a similar situation?

Its the luck of the draw man. My father and both grandfathers are bald/balding but they didn't really start losing until around age 50 but here I am in my 20s. I have a little brother and I pray he doesn't get his with this disease. Every time I see him I look for early signs. I don't want to see him go thru this sh*t.

op what Norwood r u?

i hve bad luck too

i started balding 17/18. 18 hair prob half density lol. 19 temple recession started with noticable thinning at 20/21. now 30, prob nw4ish headed to a Norwood 7 around 40/45.

NO ONE, in my immediate family has any f*****g baldness whatsoever before 30. dad is maybe nw4/5 at 60, but has different pattern to me so i didnt get it from his side. his dad is nw1 90 lol. his grandads are nw1s in their 60s from the pics i saw. so f*** knows where he got his hair from

mums side, dad is thinning in crown but strong nw2 hairline at 70. uncle nw1.

it looks like i have the same pattern as my mums dad but just more aggressive. he has a large family, like 7 or 8 brother and sisters and ive been told there is some baldness within that family. i guess i got this aggressive sh*t from there somewhere

joke

still i feel for you op. i dont have any brothers with strong hair genes to compete with. that really would piss me off.

Hair genetics has science baffled at the present time. My uncles, while brothers, some were bald and some had full heads when they died. I had bald ancestors on both sides of my family, yet I have two sons with no sign of recession in their 30s and strangely my daughter, while not losing her hair, has thinner, less density than her brothers. Strange, too strange.

Nearing NW3. I have no crown bald spot (finasteride may have held that off), but my hairline is destroyed. I have really bad receded temples, but the thinning in the center of the hairline is really the tipping point. Makes it near impossible to style my hair now. With hair styling creams and sprays I can make my density look pretty good except for my hairline which is fucked. What sucks the most is my diffuse thinning didn't start until after starting finasteride, so I took the plunge to take these potentially life-altering drugs in order to keep my hair, but they didn't do sh*t. Right when I started finasteride I had great density and could easily hide my receding hairline with a good haircut, but now my hair is so fucked I'm forced to push my hair back and show off my "hairline".

And yeah that sucks, the early onset of hair loss is pretty brutal, especially when treatments are a dud.

Genetics can be weird. Maybe you got some recessive balding gene. I have one uncle who is 57 and Norwood 7 and another (his brother) who is 56 and a thick Norwood 1 who can grow a Santa Claus beard meanwhile I am a NW3 baby face at 21. Also my next door neighbor went NW6 at 25 and all his male relatives including his father are thick NW1 into their 60s and 70s.

This is my worst nightmare. Both my brothers are good looking too. If those bastards don't recede I will be really pissed.

Same here with my brother, the first sign I see of him balding I'm gonna sit him down and let him know his options. Would hate to see him go through it too.
