I have been losing hair for about 11 yrs now (currently 30) and am headed towards the NW5 direction but am at a NW3 something. I remember how fast the temples went (within a years time around 20) and then it slowly kept diffusing in the front and only in the front very slowly. Then around 27 my hairline got attacked and started diffusing down the center of the scalp. How do we know these meds are doing anything. The balding process is so random. People maintaining could just not be losing at that time. I am just ready to give up everything. This is sucking so much energy out of me. There seems to be no proven regrowth med out there and it has been how many freaking years. Just pissed off at the moment and need to vent.

I feel your pain brother. At about 21 hair was thick as hell, no problems. When I turned 22, I noticed I had to shave more often, like everyday as opposed to eod and a little armpit hair came out; DHT was making its presence known. My scalp began to itch somthing crazy and a couple months latter my hair lost half its density and hairline began to erode.
At 27 decided to get on proscar and it actually maintained quite well for 2 years, no one thought I balding anymore, nothing changed much. Now at 29, noticed more thin vellus body hair getting darker on my arms and body and guess what? Hairline is thinning much more and diffuse all over.
I believe the meds DO work but our body just begins to make too much dht. I believe I need to get on somthing stronger like dutasteride to maintain cause its going down hill from here. I am nw3 right now.

I would give up minoxidil if my hairloss suddenly accelerated,

but never finasteride :nono:
