I agree, it just reinforces the perception of baldness being a health issue rather than a genetics issue.

I'm 23. I run a 1:14 half marathon. I have a resting heart rate of ~42. I get enough sleep. I eat lots of veggies. I meditate and live spiritually. Yet my thinning hair makes people perceive me as being unhealthy.
Then, ...., people are ignorant,

Ignorance thrives within society, so there are bound to be misconceptions on just about anything not just in relation to male pattern baldness.

If people don't like a certain demographic, they will invent reasons/excuses to hate them. Humans can be cruel creatures but we all know this.

indeed, proclaiming ''we just hate you because of the way you look'' would go against the faux equality notion society has on the surface, but as far as discrimination goes in general, intolerance needs to be rationalized in order to maintain self-righteousness.

Only ever heard this term used in relation to women not men, bit I agree that some women, mainly very thick and uneducated, do have some silly ideas about male pattern baldness, like the belief that poor diet or smoking might be a main cause, like I said though this is a dimwit minority, there's too many celebrities in the media with male pattern baldness nowadays, for anybody with half a brain cell to think it is somehow dictated by diet or lifestyle instead of genetics.

There is definitely an association between metabolic syndrome and premature androgenic alopecia. Those with the worst genetics will lose hair regardless of lifestyle, but I wouldn't ignore published science. Anecdotes are often unreliable.

For example,
Association of androgenetic alopecia with metabolic syndrome in men: a community-based survey.

Su LH, Chen TH.

Our population-based study found a significant association between Androgenetic Alopecia and metabolic syndrome; among the components of metabolic syndrome, HDL-C was found to be of particular importance. This finding may have significant implications for the identification of metabolic syndrome in patients with moderate or severe Androgenetic Alopecia. Early intervention for metabolic syndrome is critical to reduce the risk and complications of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus later in life.

Reminds me of this comedian who said he hates when people tell him he's "losing" his hair. As if he were only more responsible maybe he would have keep track of his hair.

The problem is it makes you look like ****, and people asociate good looks with good health (seems reasonable)

I meditate and live spiritually.

There's your problem.

Meditation is great, but this spiritual stuff is a load of crap. Have fun making up your own rules to life and pretending you're somehow better than both atheists and theists for it. Let me guess, the world is one big mind, we're all connected, God IS the Universe?

Get off the Kool-Aid and come back to reality. And if your hair is thinning then shave it until you can stabilise with meds and/or get a hair transplant. Long, thinning hair will make you look like a cancer patient.

P.S. Marathon runners generally don't look healthy

Wow, what a crappy piece of 'journalism'. The guy simply grew his hair out, combed it over his temples a bit, and they're practically proclaiming miracles. It's quite obvious that Jude Law is still going bald.

Still i guess it shows what a difference some tan, beard and a bit of subtle-ish combover can make in a dumb, shallow woman's mind. You don't see her complaining about him being a "compensator" now do you? lol

I say with the beard and tan alone, he already looks much better than in the older pic, nevermind the combover tufts, also when I get a nw4 like that I'd buzz it in closer than that personally. You don't want the sly look, but too grown out like that and it looks bad also.
