I Have Been Taking Propecia For Seven Weeks Now

Hello all. I've been lurking the forum for about a year on and off but just created an account. I'm approximately a Norwood 3 with noticeable thinning on the crown but not down to the skin. I am 33 years old.

Following several weeks of deliberation I began taking Propecia on 20th May. I have fortunately had no noticeable adverse side effects. Still maintaining strong erections and ejaculating quality semen in good volumes. No breast tenderness. I feel like it's already making a difference to my hair in terms of its health if not actual regrowth yet.

At this stage would you recommend adding Rogaine to my routine or should I wait longer? The benefits are obviously the possibility of faster short term regrowth. However, the (twice?) daily application and possibility of scalp irritation are fairly major deterrents for me.

Anyway, thank you in advance to those who have taken the time to read my first post. Many of you have already been a great help during my time lurking and I look forward to drawing on more of your knowledge.

I would recommend not using minoxidil, when you add multiple treatments you then can't really tell whats working for you, get to 6 months, then see what you think then.

Thanks for your response. Having done more research this afternoon it would seem adding Regenepure to my routine would be the next logical step before turning to minoxidil. I'll wait a little longer as you recommend, I'm actually feeling fairly optimistic about my situation.

That's great, you really want to keep a minimalistic regime where possible.

In terms of the Regenpure I'm personally not a huge fan of the ketoconzoale shampoos, because they dry hair so much and can leave it lifeless and flat, maybe go for a natural based shampoo?

More good advice. Dry hair can be a problem for me. Currently I wash my hair with Head & Shoulders Classic 2in1 and after I've rinsed that out I apply Alpecin which I leave in whilst I shower. I like the Alpecin because it seems to have a thickening effect for me.

Nice to hear of your good results...I'd concur with DKC, there is no need to rush into anything right now. You feel that your getting some results from the finasteride so I'm sure Minoxidil can wait 4 more months. Also, I wouldn't worry about irritations or 2x daily usage. First, the Foam shouldnt bother your scalp. I had horrific irritations from the liquid and use the Foam with no problem..You can even melt the foam in the cap with some warm water and apply it same as the liquid. Second, you can use it 1x per day, especially if your taking finasteride. Many people use minoxidil 1x per day with results. Finally, I just wrote a thread about Regenepure a few days ago. Keto can dry your hair out. I find Regenepure to be less irritating than Nizoral, however it still dries my hair out. I'm a diffuse thinner so hair quality amd condition makes a big deal..You have to measure the gain vs the sacrifice in hair quality.

Some alternative shampoos I've come across that are nice are Jason's Extra Thick Shampoo and the one I'm using at the moment, Korres Magnesium and Wheat protein shampoo.

I agree. When you are looking for a solution, take it one at a time. In that way, you can learn what works. Topical treatments need several months to take effect. So, yes 6 months would be a good amount of time. A little bit of patience can go a long way.
