I Have Low Testosterone. What Does That Mean?

So I have been freaking out about my hair for a little while now, and though I had issues with finasteride a while back, I bit the bullet and went to the Doctor. Apparently I have low t. Could that be the cause of my male pattern baldness?? If so, do I not need finasteride?

There's no guarantee as it may just be male pattern baldness regardless of your testosterone levels. However low testosterone could indeed be the cause of hairloss, I'm sure I've read somewhere that lower testosterone usually means higher DHT, maybe someone with more knowledge of this could confirm whether this is true or not.

I would also like an answer to this

I don't understand
So low T = high DHT?
BUT high T = high DHT too?

Wouldn't it be good to have lower T for hair loss because less andogren in the body?

Androgens are not inherently bad. The issue is balance. You have to delineate between serum testosterone vs free testosterone. If you have low amounts of SHBG, an excessive amount of free testosterone will be reduced to DHT. And DHT is just one part of male pattern baldness.

Low SHBG and male pattern baldness have a lot of overlapping risk factors; insulin resistance, heart disease, cancer etc
