I Have Some Propecia Questions I Need Answered?

I am about to start Propecia. A few questions:

-To save money I was thinking of cutting the 1mg pills in half to 0.5mg. From what I read the difference between 0.2mg and 5mg is negligible, maybe 5% DHT suppression. To cut my expenses in half is this worth it for me?

-I was also thinking of cutting these in .25mg segments and taking 1 in morning and 1 at night. To prevent spikes and have a relatively stable 12-hour interval finasteride level. Is this worth it?

-I read from a member on here that Propecia caused his follicles to become more sensitive to DHT and lost more hair. Is this just a coincidence or can this really happen?

-If 1mg Propecia is the route to go should I build up say .25mg for a week, .5mg for a week. then 1mg for week?

-If I do take 1 pill a day. Better morning or night?

-Should I just shut up and take the prescribed 1mg pill every day as my derm prescribe and stop trying to re-invent the wheel?

Thank you for your time.

I can only tell you from my experience so far, but individual results will and do vary greatly. Anyway heres goes:
I started propecia a little over 3 months ago at 1mg and for a few days 0.5 mg but now im back to 1mg. So far all ive experienced is accelerated frontal loss at temples and thinning hairline ( which i thought was just a myth, turned out i was wrong :( )so yes it can happen, i actually think it may be more common than previously believed but i dont think age plays a factor in it, mostly just follicle sensitivity and how your body responds to the meds. This doesnt mean what happened to me will happen to you, but it is a risk. To answer your question i would probably just take the 1mg since its the recommended dosage for hairloss but if money is really an issue i'd just go with 0.5mg and see how that works out for you.

You may also want to look into nizoral shampoo it has anti fungal and DHT properties and trust me you need a clean, healthy scalp for any possible regrowth, dermarolling and topical spironolactone ( S5 cream ) which is a topical anti androgen kinda like minoxidil only it protects hair instead of thickening and thats what ive just added to my regime. Good luck in your choices with treating your hair loss and if you do decide the propecia route I hope it works out for you, sure as hell hasn't for me so far :( But i'd like to think the Nizoral, S5 Cream and dermarolling is helping.. even if just a little bit!

I kind of want to try this myself, strictly for the purposes of saving money and non side-effect related, but as I've been stablized on 1mg I'm a bit too scared to risk going back to actively balding

Wouldn't bother with this

-I read from a member on here that Propecia caused his follicles to become more sensitive to DHT and lost more hair. Is this just a coincidence or can this really happen?

Yes. Our good friend @buckthorn suffered this horrific fate at the hands of finasteride. Extremely unlikely to happen to you, but yeah, no guarantees in life

-If 1mg Propecia is the route to go should I build up say .25mg for a week, .5mg for a week. then 1mg for week?

I actually did this when I started finasteride. I haven't gotten any noticeable sides apart from watery semen. Does this have anything to do with the gradual dosage introduction? No way to say for sure

-If I do take 1 pill a day. Better morning or night?

Shouldn't matter. Whichever time you're more likely to remember to take it I'd say

-Should I just shut up and take the prescribed 1mg pill every day as my derm prescribe and stop trying to re-invent the wheel?

Probably. Personally I'd only bother with the .5mg for financial purposes, as already stated
