I honestly believe there is a correlation between caffeine and hairloss

I think caffeine HELPS hairloss. Yes, it's genetic, but I think caffeine might help a tiny bit to preserve your hair. Almost every person I know who's addicted to coffee/caffeine has good hair.

My grandpa (mom's side) was a NW2-2.5 very young, and he's got practically the same hair now at ~80. He drinks a f*ck ton of coffee.

Guy at work who's in his 70's who drinks coffee so much that his teeth look... Well... Pretty bad--has a GREAT head of hair for his age (like NW2-2.5).

Guy I know in the gym who's ~30 has a fantastic head of hair and told me that, at some point, he was taking over 1000mg of caffeine per day.

Okay so obviously these are only a few cases and we all know that genetics is 99.99999% of it, but I truly believe caffeine has a positive effect on hair follicles.

if you would just take a look into the italian community for a split second you'd know why this is flawed.

Do they take a lot of caffeine and bald often? Lol. I'm posting this ONLY to spark discussion, which is why I prefaced and ended my post with "hairloss is 99.99999% genetics."

we drink coffee like its water lol, all my cousins are bald, dad, uncles, almost every male i could think of lol, besides my grandpa who is 91 with a nw1, italians have a HUGE % of balding people in its culture.

Although when i was a hairloss n00b i bought some caffeine liquid bottles to apply topically, never used them though. BUT caffeine is a stimulant, i just dont know how it would work.

I actually though Italians generally had good hair compared to other Europeans. Dark and thick.

I used to take over 1000mg of caffeine a day. And it didn't help my hair.

For every person you say it helped I could cite a bunch of balding guys that drink a lot of coffee daily. I do think there are some small studies showing caffeine does help fight testosterone, but in what amounts or if it only works topically who knows. It might do nothing in the amounts a normal person would drink. Too much caffeine can certainly hurt and kill you just like anything else in large amounts. Assuming of course, it does anything at all.

I would say there is more correlation with chocolate and sugary foods causing hairloss!

Caffiene topically, probably not good = "We investigated the inhibitory effect of paracetamol and caffeine on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced cyclooxygenase (COX)- and prostaglandin (PG)E(2)-synthesis"

PGE2 down.

Caffeine internally- not likely

caffeine topically- possibly

I routinely wash my scalp with a mixture of coffee and bicarbonate. I put about 2 tbsp of each in 1 tb of Aveeno shampoo/washer and let it do the job for 5+ minutes. The itching and redness disappear and I get hair volume. I don't notice any hair growth, though, as I do notice with other natural ingredients.

You honestly think people who drink a couple cups of coffee are helping their hairloss? If a guy is 70 with good hair its genetics. You really cant consume enough coffee and caffeine to have any effect. Its all garbage in my opinion.

Are there correlations between hair loss/growth and any other substances? I know people have talked about sex and marijuana in the past, but I'm interested to know which cultures bald the least. Is it due to genetics or dietary factors? I wouldn't be surprised if there was a dietary factor that could influence our androgen levels and therefore hair loss.

Their is a link between iron deficiency and hair loss and it's quite surprising that there's not more posts about it on this forum. It might be a great addition to your current regimen.

Maybe androgen-independent hair loss, but I highly doubt supplementing with Iron would have any effect on androgen-dependent hairloss.
