and need some advice...

I have always had minor problems with flaking (little itching, however) since i have been on Minoxidil (5%), keeping things under control using a generic store brand dandruff shampoo (act. ingredient pyrithione zinc 1%) every day...

Well after reading the boards here about Nizoral and using it only 3 times per week as more could cause worse irritation, I dropped the generic and made the switch..

So now i have had even WORSE flaking on my scalp the last 6 months...not to get gross, but its like large dry pieces right at the base of my scalp (wherever i concentrate the minoxidil)

So what should i do?

--maybe increase from 1% - 2 % Nizoral
--go back to using the generic dandruff shampoo everyday (the bottle does say you can use it everyday
--should i try using TGel
--something else??

I really am panicking that my irritated scalp is the reason i feel my thinning has gotten worse the past few months...

do you know why the spray costs $10 more than the cream or lotion?

There is more spary (8oz) versus the lotion (2oz), The lotion and cream are better for thin areas or the hairline, while the spray is better for diffuse areas.

I have always used the spray. Good stuff!

in the meantime while i wait to get the Folligen, do you think its ok to use the generic dandruff shampoo everyday (not Nizoral) if i think it may help control the situation, or will that possibly be bad for my scalp?

dude i'd suggest trying t-gel plus by the neutrogena people, to help you with large flakes of skin. salicylic adic is meant to be a great keratolytic? agent which should help to break down those large flakes of skin. but definately go with Folligen also. It has seriously thickened up my existing hair , and my scalp is in good condition now.

TGEL=coal tar

TSAL=salcylic acid

Both work very well on flakes.
