the hairs i examined under 100x magnification on a light microscope were hairs with the blob of white crap on the end.

to clarify, no they werent hairs i ripped out wtill with the white sheath around the root, they were hairs that fell out naturally, that had a blob of sebum or something, about 1-2 mm across. about 50 % of the hairs that i find are like this, probably because with the blob on them, they tend to stay in my hair, and when i see the white blob, i grab them and collect them for observation.

i was in a microbiology class, and took these hairs to examine.

unfortunately didnt find anything interesting.

no demedex, lice or any parasite, metazoa around the root, or in the white crap, which appears to be just some sort of debris. (i cant see any white cells, or significant bacteria or fungi (although i know there would be bacteria there)

and as expected i saw the cuticles on the shaft of the hair, all closed, and healthy looking. (a hair is like a pine cone, where the cuticles can open up, this is how some products can cosmetically make hair look thicker, without actually making it grow thicker, like the makers sometimes have u believe!)

my hair looked like the left picture.

noone knows exactly as far as i know, but like i said, at least on mine, its not cells (so not pus), its not dead (or live)parasites, so imo its hardened oil or sebum.
