You're balding. I'm 17 receding and thinning more than you. It sucks to be receding as a teenager, but judging from the thickness of your hair i would say you have years ahead of you to be completely bald, so don't panic and try to enjoy those years and with treatments you could extend the time until you're bald. My advice to you is to jump on treatments and try to save money so when you go bald you could have a transplant.

It's alright leave him alone to wallow in self-pity while he turns slowly into a typical bald guy. As you said being bald would look horrible with his facial features. At least i can grow a decent beard (was shaved when i took the photo), so i'll be alright i think . I was really trying to help him, but he's kind of a rude guy. I know i'm not attractive, but he's probably jealous because he looks way young than 19 like i thought he was at the middle school when i saw him. If you're going bald it's actually better to look older and more masculine than to look like a spoiled kid or a high school girl with daddy issues. @OP: before 30, it is a good idea not to talk to women about hairloss. If you do, try to do it with a comic tone, as if you were a young Woody Allen.
In today's world, no one likes to hear problems related to your image.
Having said that, you are young and if you go see a dermatologist (NOT a pharmacy for a thickening shampoo...) you may retain your hair for a long time.

I wouldn't say you necessarily need to have the typical "masculine" look to look ok being bald, it will depend on other features that women seem to like, eyes, smile, eyebrows for some reason...? Over the age of late 20's, early 30's things kinda change in the dating world, other things can take higher priority than the amount of hair on the head. Anyway, nobody here wants to go bald and the OP should not be insulting someone saying they look 30 when they have said they were 17. Why would they lie?
