I Thought Hair Was Supposed To Get Thinner And Shorter With Each Cycle, Not Thinner Towards Root

Am i wrong? Or is this just insanely fast miniaturization, strands of hair that fall out are shorter, thinner towards the root

My hair started miniaturizing insanely fast after starting finasteride. I've read many other accounts of this happening.

I pulled out a few hairs today that looked the same. The top is very dark and thick and it gets quite thin and has less color towards the bottom. The strands weren't too long so scary how much damage was done just the last month or two.
