Do you think hair loss could be a contributing factor to someone committing suicide? I think the younger the person is the more likely it is to make them become depressed. Or if they were already depressed when it started happening it could "push them over the edge". Sorry if this is a bit morbid, I was curious about your opinions.

If hairloss isn't bad enough, having a bad hair transplant is much worse! It's like going from being in the frying pan into the fire.

why wouldn´t you try a piece? I know it´s a hassle, but when you´re feeling this low...

Absolutely.

When I started losing my hair at the tender age of 17, I was severely depressed and had plenty of suicidal thoughts.

I am not a quitter, though. I did lots and lots of research and soon found out about finasteride (and this was way before the Internet and gourmetstylewellness.com). Today I'm 33 y.o. and still a solid NW2. And I deserve it!

Sure if it leads to effecting other areas of your life. People kill themselves for all kinds of trivial reasons so hair loss could definatly be a cause for some.

I thought about suicide a lot when I first started loosing hair rapidly at 21. There was one year where it was particularly bad. But eventually you do overcome it.

I know of a 36 year old single guy that had bad hairloss (through his 20's). He committed suicide. Of course no one said it was because of hairloss, because people with hair just don't understand. I didn't know it at the time because I was 18 and not loosing hair yet, but now I am certain of it.

dunno what kind of people are there...the truth is that not even me and not even you will end up on this earth with a full head of hair...so maybe we have to shave it and ignore people comments regarding our baldness...looks like there's no better solution.Being 23 years old... I don't want to have the look of a 40 or 50 years old...I mean thin hair and receding hairline...like a norwood 2 heading to 3...it is just awful...you betta shave it that keeping just some strand of hair here and there...I am that kind of or full head of hair or a shaved look...and I wouldn't hesitate to shave it if I was good looking without hair...

You are saying that those guys are dunno what kind...b sure that they are like us...balding guys...

regarding hairpieces ...it is indeed another hassle...but it can bring your look back...and obviously you have to maintain it and change some 3-4 in a year to look good...but I already told you...I've talked with many young guys that are wearing...and this thing has changed their life...seriously ...I'm not a fan of hair pieces...I hate it...but this is the cruel reality...I would do anything to have a full head of a hair...I 'll be wiling to make a scalp transplant and to take imunosupressant the rest of my life...this is how desperate I am...and I am sure that I am not the only one in this situation...

Suicide from hair loss has happened. As the OP mentioned, it's likely these people will have some problems in their life already.

Suicides following bad transplants are, I've heard, much more common. It's not for nothing that more experienced members warn you to be careful when it comes to hair transplants.

Re: hair pieces, they can look good but it takes a certain kind of person. You need to be willing to deal with it psychologically and to handle the reality that at some point, someone will probably know. Maintenance probably takes much less time than people spend reading this forum every week, and not much more than shaving your head (which requires a shave 2-3 times a week to maintain).

FAO Dudemon:

I don't think wigs are great, but you seem like someone who'd actually be able to benefit from them. Why?

- You're in your 40s, and therefore won't face the challenges many younger guys do to stay concealed (e.g. fights with mates, rough and tumble, team sports with showers).

- Your hair already looks cack (according to yourself). If people laugh at you for what's on your head already, you have a lot less to lose.

- You have a hair transplant scar, so shaving isn't such an easy option.

- You live as a self-confessed hermit nowadays, so you easily have the couple of hours a week required for maintenance.

- For the same reasons, you have less people to 'shock' with the sudden change. You're in college, so when you graduate you'd have a fresh start to give it a go.

I don't know where you read about glue melting, but there are plenty of glues and tapes that wouldn't melt at the equator. These are medical-grade adhesives; you could attach an arm with some of them.

I don't know why you don't at least try it. Obviously it's not a perfect solution, but in your situation it could offer you a way to get over this. You don't have much to lose, do you?

you Boondock look like a smart guy...and knows a lot...you're right I've heard people complaining that some tapes are so strong to last even 6 weeks...and without using the alcohol to release you will not be able to take it off...so melting...it is not a problem even at 40 degrees...by the way ...I've read a testimony of a guy that work in some desert area and we worn a full cap...wig...and he had no problem...
