This is a question i ask myself recently because i dont know if im unnecesary paranoid about going bald young, particulary before age 30 wich is my biggest fear.

As im not in denial anymore because i know that i have mbp, and even if im currently under the big 3 i wake up every day in fear, constantly checking my hairline, crown, scalp, pillow, etc to see any change and honestly i dont think is a way to live. I wasted my youth concerned about dull stuff and i dont want to live the rest of my young adult life with fear about something that will happen eventually anyway.

So i ask this question ,specially for the older folks of the forum... If a guy is receding, thinning, etc a bit at his mid 20s when will he actually start to go bald? personally i dont consider a norwood 2 hairline as balding tho in theory it actually is, but i think most people would agree that everyone consider balding once you get to norwood 3 and beyond. A norwood 2 hairline could just look like a high hairline (Johnny Depp) or the so called "mature hairline" to most people, while slight thinning could look like you just have thin hair. What i mean, if a man hairline starts to recede at his mid 20s how longi does it take for him to go bald naturally? If im receding at 25, wich means im in the early stages. will i be bald at 30 or will i still have hair, however a bit less? Like a norwood 3... Or even the same hair. Considering that i have still a lot of hair and mostly thick on top and crown, when do the hair los REALLY would start to devevelop?

Well it is progressive so its hard to tell how it will progress in different people. My dad started to recede at 30 but hes 64 now and a norwood 3. But the fact that you are only receding in your mid 20s I would highly doubt being bald by 30. Your best bet to see how it would progress would to look at your family history father, brothers uncles..... Also depends how quickly it has receded since the start. I freaked out when mine started to recede it is scary when you come to the realization your hairline is changing in your youth. But if early stages and on the big 3 you should be fine if it isnt noticeable cosmetically yet then with big 3 might not be for a while. Posting pics would also help others give you their opinion.

Cosmetically i think the only problem for now is my hairline wich isnt that much of a problem however i can swear im thinning a little bit on top... People say is my imagination, but i can only notice it when i move my hair or with strong light... I think i have difusse mbp. I have asked many times family members and trusted people and they all say that honestly i look pretty much the same to them and the only problem área they notice is the hairline wich i have to pull my hairline up because of my hairstyle for them to notice.

I am worried because to me it would be very awfull to go bald in my 20s, is not really an age when you expect yourself to start balding it was a bit of a shock to me. Is not the "is only hair" or that is a "cosmetic problem", to me going bald in your 20s or before can be very depressing cause is not something you expect yourself to experience , and i mean maybe not bald, but if my hairline keeps receding and i start to thin more it will hurt my confidence a lot.

About family history, my dad said he started losing his hair at 30, maybe he was receding a bit in his 20s yet he didnt noticed. My brothers are older and none of them are bald, one of them is 27 and has some loss on the temples and some minor thinning, my older brother is 31 has mosly full head of hair yet his mild scalp is thinning a bit.

I think my hairline is getting that norwood 2 shape. When i went to my derm who gave mr a prescription of minoxidil he told me that no finasteride, because i have minor hair loss... However i started taking finasteride anyway, was it a wise move? I think im at the early stages still and for now i dont feel sexual problems.

I know is not the end of the world but for me the idea of going bald in my 20s can be very depressing. Also at first when i noticed the problem i was during a lot of stress wich has been a little bit less now. I think im like norwood 2.

Honestly is not a way to live, being all overly obssessed about my hair, i wake up and i touch my hair and the first thing is look at my hair in the mirror.

Yeah taking finasteride is the right choice. What norwood did your dad progress to? As soon as your diagnosed with male pattern baldness is the right time to go on finasteride.

You may not go bald. Not everyone who recedes goes bald. People stop at NW3/4. But as mentioned - best to look at your family, that is a good indicator.

And start with finasteride.

My dad is norwood 6, like Sean Connery, he actually looks like him haha except for the gray hair. However i have seen pics of him in his 30s and he still had hair but it looked like he was loosing hair. None of my older brothers have advanced stages of hair loss anyway, im not even sure if they have hair loss but is not really noticeable, i dont think they are even norwood 3, my 27 year old brother hair looks kinda thin when its wet, i have noticed when he gets out of the shower, you can see his scalp a bit, but once its dry it looks thicker.

But im the only one who is concerned about hair loss in my family. I started taking finasteride cus i didnt wanted to take any risk despite my derm didnt agreed i dont care... So far no problems with it. I think that besides my hair recession maybe i had some hair loss for being stressed and paranoid wich might accelerate hair loss a bit. In the last months im more relaxed, i eat and sleep better, and im also on the big 3 and i have noticed improvement in my hair growth.

About if maybe i dont go bald... well my derm told me that my crown lacked density too :\ however i dont notice it. Im your average caucasian hispanic male, i think i have the Andre Agassi type, i mean pale skin, bushy eyebrows, dark hair, hairy chest, etc im pretty sure that baldness is my genes... however i just hope that the big 3 will help me while im in my 20s. Even if it doesnt get noticeable without treatment, im very obsessive about my appereance and even the minor flaw makes me a bit depressed sometimes. Baldness has always been my main concern and fear about getting older, even if some people have told me i would look good bald i just preffer having hair, specially in my 20s.

Im gonna post some pics of my current hair later for more opinions. Thanks for the answers.

BTW i have been on finasteride for around 2 or 3 months so far, plus minoxidil for like five or sic months and keto. When i asked my derm about finasteride she told me that no because im young and i have slight hair loss and side effects, Bla bla bla specially sexual drive, i told her that if im constantly worried and insecure about hair loss it would be much worse that decreased libido due to finasteride because my libido would be useless anyway, being all worried and stressed and whatnot about hair loss doesnt help at all in getting women, being on finasteride makes me more confident and she didnt knew what to say, she told me i dont agree and im not gonna give you a prescription but you can do what you want. I asked my personal doctor about it and at first he doubted too but then he said it was ok cus side effects happen in minor percentage. The best part is that im getting finasteride for free! At least for a year is covered by my insurance.

BTW i part the finasteride pill in four pieces, i have the 5mg variety, i make sure that is exactly as posible and im sure its working because since im on finasteride i barely shed hair and my hair looks better.
