I've been taking 1 mg propecia every day for 3 years, i think it did something. My crown is solid, but still see some thinning and miniaturization through out.

Does a higher does of finasteride work better for some people?

Has anyone upped their dosage and then seen improvement?

The difference between 1mg and 5mg is not very big at all. You can try adding a topical anti androgen or possibly switch to dutasteride

There's a graph pasted around the forums that shows the hair improvement from 1mg to 5mg is neglible, 1mg is a sweet spot. There is some research, however, showing an increase in sides between Propecia and Proscar (in essence 1mg vs 5mg), but that can be attributed to the fact that Proscar patients are in general older and already have other issues.

In my personal not-a-doctor opinion and 3+ year user of finasteride, I would say it's not worth the slight risk. I too would recommend throwing other topicals into the mix to see if they help.
