I met Dr Rogers Friday last week in Stratford. I have to say I felt a bit uneasy, "out of my depth" as I arrived at the surgery.
He discussed the various options with me and assessed me as suitable for surgery if I wanted to proceed. He recommended 1500-2000 grafts. As has been said before he considers the crown less important, feeling the need to make sure and leave enough grafts in the donor area for the future. My crown doesn't show through much anyway I just want to deal with the front where my scalp now shows through.
DR rogers reckoned it would make a big difference if I used concealers however I'm not so keen on "temporary" measures.
I got the impression he's not a great enthusiast of Regaine but certainly is keen on Propecia.
I discussed strip method or FUE - cost is secondary to me - I'd rather have the best job done - I get the impression strip method may produce a better result for the grafts - on that basis I would choose it. However I still feel uncomfortable about how the scar might look.
From what Dr Rogers was saying the graft area itself would show no indication of scarring.
Overall I think I would like to go for the surgery but I want to do a bit more research with existing patients regarding Strip or FUE.
As said before there's no hard sell but had there been I would have been really put off the whole thing.
