I'm Confused! Please help ASAP! Regarding RetinA/Rogaine

I understand that Retin-A has an active ingredient that is a derivative of Vitamin A.

Accutane causes hair loss because of the Vitamin A.

So why is Retin-A effective with Rogaine? I understand it allows for better absorption, but couldn't that be done with just taking hot shower and then applying the Rogaine? Benefits of absorption are offset if you ask me if your also absorbing Vitamin A into your scalp, I would think!?

Where is my line of thinking wrong?

And I searched the boards for anything on Retin-A Micro...but not one post. Does anyone have any info on the 0.04% and 0.1% products? All I ever read about is people putting Retin-A 0.05% on their head with Rogaine, but what about the Retin-A Micro? I did the Retin-A Micro 0.1% for the first time on my scalp last night (usually just on my face for acne) and then did the Rogaine....I swear I felt weird for 30 minutes after applying that Rogaine....not really a headache, but felt some pressure and lightheadedness.....it subsided after 30 minutes. Don't mind the side effects if that means it's really getting in there working! Do you think Retin-A Micro is ok to use, especially the potent 0.1% !? I would compare it to Avodart (which I do 0.5mg a day, Mon-Fri) and I would say Retin-A is compared to Propecia....

But can anyone confirm or reject my opinions on Retin-A Micro, and tell me why it works when it has Vitamin A in it, which is supposed to cause hair loss.

Have you tried using the search function? There's a wealth of info on these boards regarding Retin-A.

Yes, I understand that it allows for better absorption of Rogaine,

But Vitamin A is also being absorbed, which causes hairloss I thought! At least that's why Accutane causes it.

Can you please assist?

definitely use the search function for retin-a or tretinoin.... there's a wealth of info on this....

but to break it down for you... continued use of retin-a has shown to decrease androgen activity in the scalp by up to 30%.

But neither your answer, nor any past posts using the search function explain how can Vitamin A be good to put in the hair, when Accutane has been proven to cause hair loss because of the vitamin a...so why wouldn't Retin-A do the same thing, despite it's androgen decrease, and higher allowance of absorption of rogain....seems the vitamin a offsets the benefits???

Retin-A does not equal vitamin A. They are related, but they are not the same chemical and therefore do not necessarily have the same effects.
