Should I go to someone else, like my gyno?

Gyns are the ones to deal with female hormones, I'm told. Learn whatever you can so you don't get brushed off. I think unless you're having a baby or getting a pap smear, they don't always take the time needed for out-of-the ordinary issues. Mine ran the DHEA test, instead of DHEA-S. At the time, I ddn't know anything, it was pre-gourmetstylewellness.com. Estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA-s, and whatever others. (totalD is better at these tests names :) ). Also, the ratios of these hormones are very important. And, the day of the month you are tested is important to get accurate results.

Here's a helpful site (again, thanks totalD): http://www.hormonehelpny.com/
and if you can't get the doctor interested, a last result might be: http://www.salivatest.com/index.html

BCP could throw your hormones out of whack. They are synthetic, foreign to your body. Getting off of them was a good thing. Also, from Dr. John Lee's book, I have learned that blood levels of hormones may not be real accurate, hence the saliva test, see above. Also, http://www.johnleemd.com/

The more you know, the more you know whether you gyn is going to be helpful. I wish I knew then what I know now! I'm on doctor #4: gyn #1 (no help), derm (limited help), endo (maybe help, waiting for tests), and now gyn #2, at the beginning of August. I've learned lots more from the forum at gourmetstylewellness.com  , and the books folks here have recommended!

Godd luck to you...

I went for going off of them altogether (BCP). After researching it like crazy, I decided that it just wasn't worth putting my body through such drastic things just because I liked the convenience of it. I wish I had stopped the pill a lot sooner.

Think how I feel. I go through almost 50 years without BCP, and in one uninformed and weak moment, I take synthetic HRT (femhrt) and all hell breaks loose: hair loss, seb derm, loss of libido, recurring itchiness of various skin areas, worsening of weight gain in waist area. Pisses me off.

But, I remain confident (for the moment :) ), that I will overcome this, I hope,
And, thanks to Atkins, I've lost 20 since March. :)

I really sympathize with all of you under 40 who are experiencing hair thinning/hair loss. It really sucks!!!

But, as far as I'm concerned, any age a woman loses her hair is too young. Women just shouldn't have to deal with this, too!!!!

I agree....I'm only 27 but I think it would suck at any age.....
