So, I've been using propecia for just about half a year now. The good news is the hair that is falling out is much darker and thicker than that which was falling out 3 months ago. This is a good indication I think because it is evidence that the propecia is working. I was lucky (that's a relative term, because I'm still losing my hair) because I got on propecia just about three months after I noticed my hair was falling out. And I'm young; just turned 22.

However, I still continue to lose hair when I shower...always about the same 10-30. Is this ever going to end? Do I have to go through a few more cycles and then it will stop? Has anyone else gone through similar events and can report to me what is to come?

The human head on average loses 100 hairs per day. You will always shed.

I realize that the human head on average loses 100 hairs a day. How come I never noticed this hair loss when I wasn't suffering from what I believe to be male pattern baldness?

Also, losing thicker, darker hairs is a good sign that the propecia is working right?

Thanks

Because you weren't looking for it!

But why did I start looking for it? Maybe because I noticed that more was falling out than I'd ever noticed it..

But as far as losing thicker, darker hairs, that is a good thing right? I think I've read that several times on this website.

Or maybe you started looking for it because you noticed your hair getting thinner and your scalp showing through more, perhaps?

I would think that would be a good thing. Better than your hair being thin and wispy.

don't believe the sh*t that the human head loses 100 VISIBLE hairs per day..

I don't know anyone, i reapeat anyone, that has NO male pattern baldness or HAIRLOSS Problems AND loses more than 10-20 hairs in the shower for months...

it could only be one day or a few days... but if your loss doesn't stop, you have hairloss problems.

I think the generally accepted figure is 50-100 hairs per day, which obviously allows for a somewhat wider and more reasonable range than what you specified.

One guy posted here a while back that his girlfriend has incredibly thick hair, and yet every time she showers, she leaves hairs all over the bathtub, all over the bathroom floor, all over the sink, etc.

its funny how pretty much any post which has "important question" or "absolute must read" all seem to turn out to be basically boring already gone over points hey
