I found a recent comment on another hairloss forum regarding finasteride from India. This person received finasteride from a pharmacy called GenPharma. He was skeptical, so he sent one pill to a lab to have it tested and posted the results on the forum. If anyone is seriously concerned about buying fake drugs, it's possible to have the drug analyzed by the company listed on the document.

Hi Zack. That's interesting. Do you know how much did he pay for the test?

Thanks Cassin,

Really helpful advice to the millions of us who don't have insurance and cannot afford to go to a doctor and buy drugs from a US pharmacy.

Buying from established online pharmacies is harmless and cost-effective.

Just go to a pharmacy....stop buying crap online
kinda unhelpful comment given that this was a thread proving yet again that the reputable online pharmacies are worth it...

edit after looking again: although, given that youre a mod and have been active for 7 years, ill bet that you know a hell of a lot more than me about the whole thing, no offence meant in the original post.

I pay for mine out of pocket...generic proscar from a legit pharmacy is cheap.

Then why do countless threads exist about people getting ripped off?

Hey Cassin - sorry if this is common information - I really have no idea!

Can I just go up to any pharmacy and request Generic Proscar, or do I have to have it prescribed by a physician?

I have health insurance, and initially asked my physician about prescribing Proscar in place of Propecia, but they had never heard of that before :-/. I always assumed getting a prescription would just have insurance cover some of the cost...but is it possible to purchase this stuff without a prescription?

No sir...you have to have a prescription.

I read a ton of info about proscar and propecia, I went into my Dr and told him what I wanted, explained in detail what it was I was asking for. He told me to hold on and I assume he went into the back and double checked my comments because he came back in with a prescription for ONE bottle of proscar with 2 re-fills a year. That covers an entire year + at 1 mg.

That document means nothing. You cannot prove that the test you show was in fact Finasteride bought from that online pharmacy. Someone could have bought that Finasteride from anywhere and had the test done.

Again this document does not prove anything at all other than Finasteride (from who knows where) was tested. It does NOT prove where it was from at all and it for sure does not prove that the pharmacy online you mentioned is legit.

Hey I use generic Proscar myself (Teva 5mg) and am in no way knocking generics, in fact I recommend generics if you are going to use finasteride due to the price. Propecia is just WAAAAY to expensive, at least for me. I am just saying that online pharmacies are always a risk and again state that the document does not prove where it was purchased and in no way makes that online pharmacy (or any other) legit.
