In Light Of Recent Info, I've Decided To Abandon Ship

That Guy

So, I've been here for over a year now. In that time, I've spent quite a bit of time talking with people about new research. I've also wrote a bunch of articles about RepliCel, PolarityTE, the role of smoking and obesity in hairloss, and I think some others, but Admin only ever got around to publishing the one before the subject likely became common knowledge — a shame, but he's a busy guy.

I've enjoyed the conversations, and the comments, which have been heated at times, but was nice to see that what was happening gave people hope in a field where hope is in short supply and rarely justified.

but after being on the big 3 for a year (with good results!), and all of the recent developments of anything in the pipeline giving us a realistic, if slightly disappointing, look at what is to come; I think I'm out of anything worthwhile to contribute, because there isn't anything worthwhile left to discuss. Also, the fatalist, and socially red-pilled, sometimes to the point of nihilistic delusion nature that is inherent to the subject matter of the forums isn't healthy if you spend too much time surrounded by it. I just need to move on.

Aside from conventional treatments, Follica and Shiseido are the only companies with clinical data showing efficacy that justifies moving it toward a market release. Personally, Follica's projected release is close enough for me that I feel I can justify putting off a transplant for now, though both would be a functional cure for me. I've not seen any information that convinces me these aren't the nearest, best hopes, and there is no sense in me waiting for something that is obviously much further away, yet.

I personally think that Tsuji, the hairloss community's patron saint, will succeed, but I have also yet to see an argument that convinces me it won't be colossally expensive and difficult to get, even if it does come out in 2020. Even if he fails, I'm certain that one day the technology will be perfected and commercialized, but I'm also certain that day is too far away for most of us.

So, to the youngest people reading this fearing that they may have (or definitely have) the onset of male pattern baldness or some other alopecia: There is absolutely hope for you. If you're of the age to do so and are considering treatment options, don't hesitate to get on the big 3. In the mere quarter century I haved lived, it is already been one of the best decisions of my life, and there are many others who will tell you the same.

For everyone else, who have been living with this for much or even all of their lives and just want a way out. I hope that upcoming therapies work out for you, and finally put an end to the nightmare. I know I don't have it anywhere near as bad, but the taste of having this extremely common condition that destroys your opinion of your reflection, being told it's not a problem in one breath, but mocked for having it in the other; being seen as a loser for having it at all, yet being seen as loser for trying to do something or even talking about it...that's brutal in any quantity.

I will still lurk to see new Brotzu memes, though.

Before you go link me to your PolarityTE article.

They're doing human trials and the latest their trials should conclude is in December of this year!

so... you were tortured, yet you were one of the few that won... and now with all your knowledge you do not feel it necessary to educate people that are less fortunate. Nice waste of an opportunity. But that's o.k., you wrote a really poetic piece about THE BIG THREE!!! THE BIG THREE!! Well, Good luck.

What's the role of smoking in hairloss? I'm curious, as everywhere I looked it seems to suggest it doesn't cause or accelerate male pattern baldness

Who the hell cares? What kind of narcissist creates a goodbye/exit post for leaving a forum? Just leave silently. Why do you need to announce it? He didn't really add much to the forum either. He was never the person to first discover new research/articles nor was he the one to interpret these things and give a scientific opinion on it. His posts are all a regurgitation of what other top posters here have said. He was active, yes but this isn't a loss.

Carry on folks. Nothing to see here.

I don't understand why people take what you say as the complete and whole truth. How is your knowledge on these topics different than anyone else that reads up on the studies and news of these treatments? You use big boy words, which probably deceives a lot of posters, but that doesn't make your OPINIONS any more accurate than others. I do appreciate the megathreads you've created on some future treatments, and some useful articles on potential treatments. But, it blows my mind how everyone on this forum agrees with anything you post. If these future treatments fail miserably you will somehow convince everyone that you never said these were going to be the "cure", and that you were just posting information on them. You act like you didn't support Brotzu, but convinced many people that it would be a better alternative to finasteride and minoxidil. Now you claim that you never thought it would be a viable treatment. Every time someone challenged your viewpoints, you ridicule them as if they're an idiot, but never provide supporting evidence to why their opinion is any worse than yours. Don't understand why this forum takes every word you say as if your the second coming of Jesus Christ. Do you even have a degree in a field related to hair loss, or are you just some English major who can write very convincing posts to unknowledgeable users?

You're lucky you responded well to the Big 3, many of us are not that lucky. Also you started early, so you probably have minimal hair loss. Many of these treatments may be a "cure" for you because you're probably like a NW1.5/2 with paranoia and BDD, and have halted your loss on finasteride and minoxidil. Most of us are not in your situation, and don't have a reason to be as optimistic.

And posting a going away post.....so pointless. Guarantee you're back tomorrow.
