Hey everyone. I've been following threads on here for a while. I'm a 28, about to be 29, year old from the midwest. Currently I am a NW6ish and my hairloss started slightly when I was around 18, but then rapidly progressed around age 22-25 or so.
When I was 18 my hairline started to recede, but even my primary care doctor at the time told me that my hairline just "matured" and it was not male pattern baldness. Yeah, sad to say that was not the case. Over the next few years, I tried everything from the big three (which I may have found out about on here under a different screen name back then), concealers, etc.
Around 24-25 years old, I had been at a family function with either caboki or toppik in my hair. I switched between the two. If I remember correctly, caboki concealed better, but didn't match my hair color as much as Toppik. Anyway, at this family function I was in some photos and some of the concealer had actually ran down on my forehead. This was now frozen in time forever due to these photos. Needless to say I was mortified.
At that time, I bit the bullet and shaved my head and accepted my hairloss. Part of doing this was quite freeing and the time/money saved in concealers/medications was a huge relief. For the last 3-4 years I had been content with the shaved head look.
I'm not sure what exactly changed but for the last 6 or so months, my baldness had began to bother me again. After months and months of research I finally booked an appointment to have SMP done. Now my appointment is this coming Monday. I am beyond excited to start this process, but also nervous. I know there is great deabte about SMP as some people love it and others hate it.
I would love to be able to share my SMP progression on here, good or bad, to help others possibly make a better informed decision.
Thanks all.
