Okay, I've been using minoxidil for a while now. (3-4 months) and first I started out with 2% and then I went to 5%.

The stuff works.

Fine, little hairs (alot of them are coming out)

Question is:

The fine, little hairs are not dark. I have dark, brown hair. They come out BLONDE or with no pigmentation. They're not too fine that they barely exist. They actually come out in enough quanitities as to hide the scalp.

Question is: They're so blonde, that at many angles, you can't even see them, that they don't hide the scalp and you can see right through them to see the scalp. Its not the ballroom look I was going for.

If I could dye it or figure out a way to make them darker. They would achieve to hide the scalp.

I'm not going for the fabio look or the Brad Pitt look. Just a few dark hairs throughout my scalp, even if tiny is enough for me.

Anyone else experience this?

hi mate,

i have been on 5% minoxidil foam for 3 months (aswell as finasteride)

im a NW4 so as you can imagin my temple recession is pretty deep. My hair is dark red, and i too got all them fine, little hairs, blonde with no pigmentation break out all over my temples... i was very excited when i first noticed them. I just hope they turn terminal in time? in the right angle of light you can see how much coverage it would give if they go terminal. Anyway, i decided to dye my hair, now having dark red hair, you cannot possible replicate that colour out of the bottle, so i had to use light brown, nobody at all noticed that i had dye my hair (mainly becuase i have it buzzed down to a number 2) The dye did manage to darken about 50% of those thin, blonde velulous hairs. so it was worth doing, though once you have done it you cant seem to fined the correct angle in the mirror where you saw them stand out like before...

Does anybody know the success rate of these hairs turning terminal or not? Ive read that this is the only success some people get with minoxidil, but im hopeing the finasteride will halp send them into full blown teminality...

Hey Chancer,

How do you dye the little fine hairs? Without damaging them? As you probably guessed, to me they're so precious. lol

Hey Dash,

I have been on Minoxidil for 5-6 months, By my 3rd month I had the exact same situation, what you probably want to do is get on finasteride and Nizoral as well, those two will also have a good chance of growing hairs like that.

Now at 5-6 months on Minoxidil, 2 months on finasteride and 1 month on Nizoral there are 2 times more of those hairs then there was by my 3rd months of only minoxdil and some of these hairs are actually huge.. they're longer then my non-balding hairs.

I'm considering dyeing my hair black, i'm very blonde.. these black hairs would show very easily.. not to mension we would be able to really notice new hairs seeing how new hairs would come in blonde instead of black.

It's going to be a very long process. Just keep doing what you're doing. If you look at my story, I first noticed the little blond vellus hairs about 2 months into treatment.

Just a couple weeks ago one of them started finally darkening up, with others starting to follow suit. I'm approaching month 8.

Just keep at it, you should get results!

Are you guys on the foam or liquid, just out of curiosity?

I was using the foam for the past 8 months and just switched to liquid. I was being retarded and in retrospect, foam was working just fine for me - but not all that well.

Liquid has led to the hairs darkening up, but sadly also one heck of a shed at the moment. It also leads to uncontrollable or hideable peeling, so I have to be creative with the times that I use it. I have a post in here that I keep udpated.

I think mine were a bit faster. I'm on liquid.

yeah. I only use foam when I'm really exhausted and can't apply the liquid. Like when I'm half-asleep or really drained. (just came from work or clubs etc etc and its 3am in the morning...) So I just apply the foam only in those circumstances, otherwise I use liquid because its more thorough.

I was thinking of using foam in the mornings and liquid at night, but I don't know how safe in terms of sheds, it is to use both at the same time.

I mean logically they are both very similar except for the extra chemicals in the liquid as a delivery mechanism correct?
