It has to get worse to get better. From what I have read people are losing fear of the regime.

Tricky situation. I hope this, somehow, makes things work out a bit for the better without too much bloodshed.

Amazing photography.

Cassin, you read the Globe???

Not sure how Bush had anything to do with this.

what the hell you talking about?

The link you provided is to the online version of the boston globe, boston.com.
The Bush thing was a response to the poster who said Bush stole two elections.

GW Bush stole two elections!

Evidence?

I assume the first stolen election would be the 2000 election. That was the Supreme Court, not necessarily Bush. There is a decent amount of evidence concerning voting irregularities in the 2004 election, particularly in Ohio, but I don't think thats what the poster was referring to.
I still fail to see how Bush had any influence on an election that occurred roughly 5 months after he left office.

I wanted Mousavi to win. But Ahmedinejad won. It's quite telling the Western support for a coup when the people have already decided. Every single election in the world has their accused irregularities. In Iran the landslide victory overwhelmingly shows who won, irregularities included. The results confirm polls, and general analysis pre and post election.

I wanted the other guy, but he didn't win. That's how it is.

The frank international support for a coup in what all honesty if thought about is a conclusive victory shows us EXACTLY why the middle-east is in the shape it's in.

I think the Western media are incorrectly interpreting the nature of what's going on in Iran. This is not an "orange"-type revolution, but a dispute between two factions within the existing conservative establishment... mostly due to people being upset about the bad state of the Iranian economy.

I think the best thing the West could do is to butt out and let Iran evolve their society and institutions on their own, and in doing so keep a door open for slow and incremental change. It is Western meddling that brought the conservatives to power, further meddling will only serve to keep that door closed.

I've kind of changed my mind on this. These protests have been pretty fierce and persistent.

While the election dispute is not the "pro West versus anti-West" contest that the media was trying to portray it as... I do think that something beyond this has been tapped into. People don't get this p*ssed off on a whim. There certainly seems to be some pervasive pent up dissatisfaction that has been caused by SOMEthing.
