Is 1mg Minoxidil (rogaine) enough for whole head? Damp or Dry?

I was applying 1.5 ml twice a day for about a year, .5 ml in the back, and 1 ml in the front half (because I assumed that the back might need a little less to get good results).

For the past 5 months I was under a ton of stress, so I've lost a lot, not back to square one, but halfway there.

Last week I started applying 2 ml to the entire top thinking it might help, however my hair is less than half an inch long, so the scalp is DRENCHED in the stuff.

I'm now reading that 1 ml twice a day, or 2 ml once a day should be plenty. Along with the fact that Minoxidil probably won't help stress related hair loss (but it might help speed up the time it takes to grow back, like hair transplants). My friend who had a receding hair line only uses .5 ml in the front once daily, missing days here and there, and he's had good results and stability.

Should I wean down to 1 ml for the whole top? And how should I go about doing it, or does it probably not matter if I just cut the dose in half right away.

Also, applying it to a damp scalp in the morning helped significantly with the greasiness (I apply to dry at night), now I'm reading it may enhance absorption 2-5 times, so perhaps I'll try just having my scalp damp twice a day and apply 1ml.

Hi coconuts, just use enough minoxidil solution so all the bald/balding spots are covered. If you need more than 1ml for that, use more. If you need less, I'd still recommend using 1 ml and NOT less. But that's just my personal opinion. I haven't read any study/article on the effectiveness regarding the amount of minoxidil applied per usage, so I would stick to the recommended amount which is 1 ml.
And try to put it directly on your scalp skin, so nothing goes to waste sticking to your hair itself.

I have used minoxidil in the past and for me I seemed to always need 2ml's.
