I hear it's more expensive than others, but there have to be some success stories. Any of them out there?

I went to bosley and got a 1/4 thick scar on the back of my head. I went to Dr Keene in Tucson and she removed the scar and twice as many grafts from the same place for less than half the price per graft and left a 1mm scar. Both are about equal in the recipient area, though Dr Keene make you spray it with salt water for several days afterwards. Dr Keene has better magnification, but my hairs from Bosley started growing right after surgery and half kept on growing while the other half fell out and grew in later. I think that was because I only did 13 FU per cm2, and 30 with Dr Keene. Bosley is a big chain, so each Doctor may be different, but they are all expensive.

Why not consider the many better proven alternative independents that are out there?

You obviously need to do more research and there is a ton of info here that can help you. I would nay on Bosley if I were you and consider other docs. Too many horror stories from Bosley.

Doesn't Bosley have the US contract with Intercytex to do multiplication when it comes out? Should be interesting.

Yes, they are working on HM/cloning. BUT, remember, you can't reverse something you're not satisfied with. Do it right the first time and every time. Why risk it? READ UP on their violations along with the other hair mills. :freaked2:

If bosley does it, they will charge MORE, not less, than traditional grafts. When they say it will cost less, they mean it will cost less than Bosley's outrageous prices.

If bosley gets a monopoly, I hope India violates this patent too. Then i'll go on an indian vacation for the summer and get the procedure done towards the end, if it has recovery time involved.

Guys,

Bosley now does Follicular Units in the recipeint area, and have trained their doctors to do this in the recipient area. They still only do strip, and not FUE. They dont, to my knowledge tinker with body hair or even body hair back in the strip scar (a pretty good idea if you ask me).

They probably HAVE gotten much better, because they had to have had. The net stories have no doubt really hurt that company. However, there are private docs that can easily do as well as Bosley can and probably much better that charge less. The thing about a franchise like Bosely (or McDonalds) is that you have to pay a certain percentage of your gross back to the franchise, so you have to up your fees to maintain the same level of profits. Youre paying, as a Doctor, for the marketing infomercials and not having to advertise so much for yourself. The downside to this for the consumer is that you have no idea EXACTLY HOW GOOD THE Doctor YOU GET at Bosley is at what he does. You see pics on thier website (tricky photos with shading over the top of the head, no post-surgery pics of the donor area, directional lighting on many of these) are the best results of Bosley from various locales across America. So if you walk into an office in Atlanta, you may not get a Doctor who did any of the "best-of" photos you see on their website.

With a private Doctor that you can research on HairTransplantNetwork, here, hairsite, or whatever..................you can check out results of twenty or so patients of his. You can email-him precise questions about how he divides the FU's, how small his donor scars are, how much he charges for strip vs. FUE, whether he will refill your donor area back in with Body Hair (a couple of docs do FUE's and fill in each hole they create with body hair's, this is about as good as you can do with conventional transplants in my opinion). With Bosley on the other hand, your consultation will be handled by a slick marketing professional, or a Doctor who has been instructed on psychological sales techniques who probably rarely performs surgeries himself anymore. Thats the whole problem with the "mill" mentality. You want to consult with the Doctor who is going to work on you.........................not a salesguy who is going to tell you that youre an excellent candidate even if you really arent.

Just take a peek at bosleymedicalviolations.com and read for yourself. Or better yet, do a Google search on medical violations for Bosley Medical. It's a real eye opener! :freaked2:

Look, you either have ethics or you don't. You can't train someone to have it. They must come to you "with it" or "without it". A doctor will either look out for his patients and do what is in their best interest including being willing to say no when appropriate, OR the Doctor will be dedicated to filling his wallet. That's why the hair mills do mass production surgeries, "move em in, move em out". They have a surgery plan for everyone!

Just take your time and really search out the good ones that have both talent and ethics. You'll find them soon enough.
