Guys,
Bosley now does Follicular Units in the recipeint area, and have trained their doctors to do this in the recipient area. They still only do strip, and not FUE. They dont, to my knowledge tinker with body hair or even body hair back in the strip scar (a pretty good idea if you ask me).
They probably HAVE gotten much better, because they had to have had. The net stories have no doubt really hurt that company. However, there are private docs that can easily do as well as Bosley can and probably much better that charge less. The thing about a franchise like Bosely (or McDonalds) is that you have to pay a certain percentage of your gross back to the franchise, so you have to up your fees to maintain the same level of profits. Youre paying, as a Doctor, for the marketing infomercials and not having to advertise so much for yourself. The downside to this for the consumer is that you have no idea EXACTLY HOW GOOD THE Doctor YOU GET at Bosley is at what he does. You see pics on thier website (tricky photos with shading over the top of the head, no post-surgery pics of the donor area, directional lighting on many of these) are the best results of Bosley from various locales across America. So if you walk into an office in Atlanta, you may not get a Doctor who did any of the "best-of" photos you see on their website.
With a private Doctor that you can research on HairTransplantNetwork, here, hairsite, or whatever..................you can check out results of twenty or so patients of his. You can email-him precise questions about how he divides the FU's, how small his donor scars are, how much he charges for strip vs. FUE, whether he will refill your donor area back in with Body Hair (a couple of docs do FUE's and fill in each hole they create with body hair's, this is about as good as you can do with conventional transplants in my opinion). With Bosley on the other hand, your consultation will be handled by a slick marketing professional, or a Doctor who has been instructed on psychological sales techniques who probably rarely performs surgeries himself anymore. Thats the whole problem with the "mill" mentality. You want to consult with the Doctor who is going to work on you.........................not a salesguy who is going to tell you that youre an excellent candidate even if you really arent.
